Good evening everyone.

Thank you in advance for your valuable advice.

I’m looking to purchase my first Omega Speedmaster, and over the past few days I’ve been reading several articles about the various models and references.

I must admit I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and confused.

I’d like to ask you, who are more knowledgeable than I am, which Speedmaster you would recommend that meets the following criteria:

  • Holds its value, and ideally has good potential for future appreciation. I know no one can predict the future, but at least based on what we can reasonably expect today.
  • High liquidity, meaning it would be relatively easy to sell if needed.
  • Suitable for everyday wear.

My budget is around €8,000, but I’m also open to suggestions below that range if you think there are better options at a lower price point.

Many thanks - I look forward to your valuable recommendations.

if you are not in a rush and are ok buying pre-owned vintage (best value IMHO) just buy a vintage 145.022-69 in VG condition that has been sericed from the private sales section here. you may be able to get it for half of your budget and save the rest. btw, on here we prefer pictures and options when responding to such posts.

I am Italian, do you also ship to Italy? Please also excuse my less than perfect English.

Thank you for the advice, I was also considering these:

3590.50 maybe with bracelet 1450
3570.50
311.30.42.30.01.005
Fois models from 2012 to 2020
145.022 maybe with 1450 bracelet
145.022-68 ST / 145.022-71 ST or even the 68 you say but I think they are a little less 'liquid' in case of resale.

I’m not sure any watch is particularly liquid in the current market. A good number of lovely watches at reasonable prices have sat in the sales forum for weeks/months recently so if liquidity is a priority for you right now, I’m not sure it’s the best time to be buying.

That said, if you can reconcile yourself with that, I’d agree a very good 145.022-69 or -71 would be my suggestion.

I thank you here on the site you can see these: 145.022-69 or -71.

I would like to have the complete original set with box and warranty.

My advice … Visit the Speedmaster 101 site produced by one of our senior OF members. Get yourself a copy of the “Moon Watch” book. Both will help you narrow your search.

you will have to wait a long time if you are insisting on a full set and may end up buying through a dealer at your full budget or even exceed it. I don't care much for b&p unless they happen to come with the watch. I would never pass up a stellar well-priced watch simply because it doesn't have b&p and vice-versa I would never buy over-priced mediocre watch just because it has b&p

Agree. You’re going to have to know what you’re looking at, be patient and then act quick to get a good watch with box and papers (unless modern).
If you buy from a dealer you aren’t going to retain value as you’re paying their taxes and profit in your purchase price. You won’t get that back if you sell.

Buy a Speedmaster because you want to wear it and enjoy it, not to make money. If you want to make money in the future, buy the cheapest watch you like now and invest the remainder of that 8k budget in a good stock index fund. In 10 years, you’ll still have a watch you like and likely more money than if you had put the whole 8k euros into a watch.

Thank you, I would obviously like to buy a speed because I really like it, I like a lot of references and bracelets and I am undecided, so while I was there I wanted to maybe buy a reference that might make more 'sense' in terms of holding and possible revaluation.
