Had to post some pics. Real proud of my daughter who is a fitness buff and a powerlifter. She competed yesterday and won gold with a total of 733lbs in her class. Here she is with her friend who won silver in her class. My daughter is the blonde. Funny thing is if she was heavier she would have set a state record LOL
Edit to add she got a PR in deadlift of 330lbs (150kg), squat 248lbs (112kg) and bench 154lbs (70kg) and she weighs 127lbs (57kg)

Congrats. I used to coach female bodybuilders, and I know how hard they work in the gym.

Thats pretty awesome. As a father to a new daughter I'm hoping /wishing mine will one day take on more male dominated sports. If nothing else at least boys will be intimidated to ask her out on dates!

I just re-read this. If it were my daughter, knowing her, she would forego the state record in place of being thinner...

Yea, she does not like to be heavy for sure. This is the most she has weighed and in reality she said she is going to cut. She used to do fitness competitions but switched to power lifting because the other comps were to subjective.

Its a good feeling to know my daughter can take care of herself for sure. Besides her fitness she is also a blackbelt in Taekwondo and a pretty good grappler.

One woman I coached in the early 80's got as far as the Miss America bodybuilding championships in Atlantic City, NJ. But when she got there, she called me crying because she was immediately out of the money, since all the other girls were using steroids. So yes, besides the subjectivity issues, there's also the drugs.

Yes indeed. She belongs to and believes in a drug free training gym. The drugs and the implants, for women and men, ruin the sport for sure. Sometimes its so obvious I can't understand how the judges let it slide.

Congratulations to you and your daughter! This is pretty cool achievement! Being the gym junkie myself, I know for sure, how difficult is to get to that competitive level.

Congratulations to your daughter! I am an avid powerlifter myself and love seeing others whom are into and appreciate the sport. The fact that she's staying natural is something to be even more proud both for you as the parent and her as the athlete. Totally awesome!!

I use to play rugby but now I'm doing powerlifting as a hobby. She's putting up numbers that will shame some of the guys in my gym. Fantastic stuff.

    Just awesome.
I feel weak in the limbs just looking at those weights.
I used to be a boxer (see avatar) but now I am just a fruit punch. :cautious:

She could basically lift me off the couch. That's impressive - I often even can't do that myself.
