The watch below is currently for sale and described by the seller as having a "prototype dial". I suspect that the dial was transplanted from another Longines (seen further below).

I have seen many tre-tacche with destroyed dials for sale over the last year or so. I am sure they will slowly resurface on different sites/ auction with some kinda "work" done and sells for many times they are worth.

    "prototype" ::facepalm2::

From the archives (and translated from the original French):

"Hey – I have an idea! How about employing a center-second dial with a sub-second hand!"

Wow... it would have made more sense to just skip the whole second hand::facepalm1::

Give Longines a break... This was probably one of the first sub-seconds watches, after the reign of the center seconds. They used what they could at the time for a prototype.

Thank you for all of your responses.

Another rare Longines to add to the list.

    Hi everyone.
The watch in question is mine.
Now it's no longer for sale because I want to examine it for good.
I mistakenly used the word "prototype", it was my mistake.
Your doubts are right but I want to understand.
I will introduce your to the results.
It was also a mistake to sell the watch without being safe.
The watch has also been optioned by a Longines collector, but I prefer to resolve the doubts first.
Thank you all and congratulations for your passion.
    David.

Looking at your instagram page you look like a well established collector/dealer. Do you think there is a chance that the Longines watch mentioned above is legit?

    Best regards, T

    Thank you.
I think there are few possibilities but vintage always surprises us.
I've been collecting and selling Longines for 20 years, I'm not surprised at anything.
But I believe your doubts are founded.
