·Up for sale is a nicely patinated 2846 reference Omega Seamaster dating to 1955. The dial has developed fairly heavy but consistent patina. The case is unpolished (or close to it) with clear bevels on the lugs and writing on the caseback. The movement was recently serviced by my watchmaker and is running very well.
Please see below for more details, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Dial: The original dial has developed fairly heavy but consistent patina. Lume is largely intact on the dial and the hands but some of the plots have discolored. Markers are in nice condition. Second hand has some rust. Dial includes "swiss" text below the six marker as expected.
Case: Original 34.5mm 2846-1 reference case is in very nice condition and appears to be unpolished (or close to it). There's only light wear - the most noticeable of which is some wear on the caseback (probably from use of a nato). Bevels on the bezel and lugs and "Seamaster" and "Waterproof" text on the case back are all in nice condition.
Crown: I had a correct clover crown installed during service. It's a genuine 1950s crown as you can tell from the flat-foot Omega logo.
Crystal: Original signed crystal (Omega logo etched at center) has some scratches that should buff out.
Movement: Original 500 caliber automatic movement was recently serviced by Chandler at CL Timeworks and is running very well. Parts replaced during service will be included in the sale. Serial number dates the watch to 1955 (aligns with non-hippocampus caseback).
Strap: Comes on the 18mm brown leather strap pictured. I believe I may have a beads of rice bracelet to fit it as well for extra cost.
Price is $699 (reduced from $799). I'll cover insured US shipping, international shipping is available but cost to be discussed with the buyer. Bank transfer or PayPal goods and services are okay for payment (buyer covers fees for PP). OF seller reviews are here. Returns are accepted if watch is grossly misrepresented. Watch is located in the USA.
