Price for a Cal 565 service (and two missing pieces)

Hello everyone!

This post is referring to this watch (https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-on-1960s-seamaster.137669/#post-1873272) which I got a while back

I left it to my watchmaker and today he called me for an estimate of the service cost
He told me that servicing it and putting new lume on the hands (which have none at the moment) would cost 150€ (120€ for the service, 30€ for the lume)
He then explained how the watch was missing two pieces of the quickset function, and how those two would cost another 150€ to get

Minding that I paid the watch 140€ I decided to set aside the quickset, at least for now, and to go on with just the service

I wanted to ask you if these are all fair prices and if you think I should also go for the missing pieces, or if the estimate he gave for those was a bit inflated

I'm in your hands, I'll be waiting for your advice!

Thank you all in advance!

Those prices are more than fair in my opinion, but still a lot to spend on a watch with a poorly repainted dial. Perhaps you can just use the watch as-is for a while, and consider whether you really want to invest more money in it.

150 euro for two pieces of the quickset function?? What parts are they, and why do they cost so much? You can literally get a donor movement for about that much money.

hello,

can you explain what is missing on the quickset date? Is the date disc intact?

Hello,

The watchmaker didn't specify much, the date disc is ok but he said a "spring" and something else that I don't know were missing, wouldn't know what though... I for sure know those are used to make the quickset work, and that as of now to change date without them I'll have to do a full 24 hour turn each time

Were it that part and maybe the spring I see beside it would the price be justified?

This is what he may call the spring because there's no "classic" spring on the quicket. It could also be the part 1568 that is connected to 1530. For the price it depends if there's one or two parts to change.

Are you sure you want to spend more money on a watch with that dial??

Agree with @Dan S it would be worth using as is for the time being.

It could very well be those two!
I could look for them myself, but it seems that especially part 1568 is pretty expensive... maybe the watchmaker didn't give that bad of a price after all

I guess that if he's not Omega certified he does what many others do. Search ebay... The price of the parts seem a little steep but the price of the service is rather low. Where are you located? If you don't want to tell it here, send me a message.
