I am thinking of bidding on this vintage omega - just want a gut check on what this would be worth approximately (dont want to overbid).

Thank you!

Not much more than what it’s already at. Note that it’s not solid gold, only gold-filled and it’ll need a service, adding another couple hundred to the total.

The watch looks legit. For valuation, I'd suggest researching previous sales on similar gold-filled SMDV models, either in the forum sales listings or auctions.

Personally, I don't collect gold-plated/gold-filled watches and wouldn't even pay the $600 that is already bid. Unfortunately, the high price of gold is driving up prices of watches with solid gold cases, so people who want a gold-colored watch are overpaying for gold-filled/gold-plated watches, which have generally been considered entry-level watches, not really made to last.

That watch looks pretty lovely/clean! But as was said above, it will need a service, and is GF. I'd spend at most ~$750 on it, but only if I loved it.

That second one you posted: I probably would max my bid out on it at $400. Linen dial is nice, but the crystal + case has enough unknowns/wear that I wouldn't spend that much on it.

for the 2nd one, should i be concerned with this gap between the bezel and back?

That is one of the things I'm worried about, yes. It looks too long to be the cutout for a removal tool, and looking at that lug, I suspect it may have been re-welded poorly, leaving some material keeping the bezel from going flush. Between that and the lug condition, you should avoid that one.

The more I look at it, the more I think my $400 above is way too generous (I work on my own watches, so a mild overpay isn't as problematic). You're definitely looking at spending $300-$500 additional to get that one serviced/cleaned after buying it, and there's no way even freshly serviced, that is a $700 watch (400 + 300 service).

I believe it is time you should start reading: https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/

You'll be able to answer these for yourself. On that one, dial and hands look good, case is rougher than I'd like, one of the lugs on the bottom might be bent (and perhaps even re soldered/welded), plus a caseback engraving. Though, you can see what a bezel removal cutout ought to look like on that one!

I don’t think so. It’s the notch in the bezel to allow it to be removed. Someone’s just incorrectly place it over the lug. It’s possible the bezel has been bent slightly by ham fisted removal making this gap larger but it could also just be the photo.
