Anyone else notice the older references of all 4 variations are still on Omega's site, AND they've raised MSRP.

311.30.42.30.01.005 was previously listed at 6,200,000 KRW in South Korea, but now at 6,400,000 KRW. MSRP increase for sapphire is even bigger. I'm not much for speculation, but this price hike of a couple hundred bucks is surely going to influence market value. I'm thinking that because there was such a big jump from 1861 to 3861, they've done this to shorten the price gap. Or just a money grab with remaining stock.

    Thoughts?

The recommended retail price in Australia is edging close to $10k.

I know many are considering other watches at this price point.

Personally I don’t think it is an issue and it is a good business move. If the price didn’t align with the 3861, many would be hung that the 1861 would be cheaper and it would hurt the sales on the 3861.

Previous generation hesalite is still $6750 Canadian on bracelet, same price as before introduction of 2021 Speedmaster.

On the US site the prices are the same, but the watches themselves are not available.

Just exchange rate adjustments, not an effort by Omega to raise prices worldwide.

Seems unlikely as price adjustments have not been made across their entire catalog. Only previous moonwatch has been affected as far as I can tell.

Thoughts on buying old stock at a discount vs waiting for new version?

I would try to see both in person first. It's not like the old version is going to continue shooting up in price after the price increases that have already been implemented.

My preference would be the new one since it's thinner with a better bracelet. I'm losing the NATO, velcro, loupe, and the strap changing tool while paying a higher price, but those things weren't that important to me. Your opinion might be different though so do what's best for you.

I've got both (3750.50 hesalite and the new sapphire). I definitely like the new looks of the 3861, but the older speedy has been broken in so I keep it on my wrist more so I don't have to worry about my left-handedness prematurely aging a new watch! Both are great watches. If you want the stepped dial, go for the newer one. It's one of those things I really love!

And no one has complained about the font of the 1861 Sapphire sandwich, but I really hate the serifs on the caseback font. I am overjoyed that the 3861 has a more modern font.

Depends on the discount. In Canada you might be able to save around 2500.00 on NOS, if you can find one, and depending on the GM or AD -- doubt you'd get near that at an OB. Both great pieces, might be worth doing a little more reading up as reviews and impressions trickle in.

I'm def hanging onto my FOIS, because it's a wonderful piece in its own right, and I don't see it being updated anytime soon. But I would now definitely consider one of the new models, likely the sapphire, because the METAS movement has some notable advantages in my workplace. Both old and new are fine options -- really a personal choice at this point, I'd say.

I think if I were a first time buyer, that’d be a more difficult decision to make, especially for being at two totally different price points. That is, if you’re getting a decent discount for NOS. But having owned a couple of moonwatches, including the most recent 1861, I’m definitely going for the 3861. It is after all, a better watch.
