are there online watch auctions where the premium can be considered as "fair"?

i think on ebay the premium with 10% (but a max of 300 euro) on the seller side is the cheapest.

auctionata charges 25% on the buyer side

the "dorotheum" im Vienna does 25% on both (!) sides

Like I've always said, all those glossy catalogs and champagne doesn't come cheap! :) By charging such ridiculous buyers' premiums, they severely limit their market.

It's also why I have to scratch my head when sellers continually complain about eBay fees.

Factor in the seller's fees and buyer's premiums in most auction scenarios and consider how much room for negotiation there would be for a watch posted on the forum.

I think it is a comfort thing for sellers to launder (not meaning illegally) their watch's thru an Auction house. No muss or fuss with dealing with Buyers. From what I read though they may have a time collecting fees.
