·Hi
I’ve been considering a Speedmaster for a while, though find the large range confusing and the cost of a new one prohibitive. I’ve seen what I believe to be a 1572.050 for sale for $4000. It’s advertised as a 3572.050, but my very limited knowledge of Speedies thinks a 1572 has a strap, whilst a 3 has a metal bracelet.
Anyway, for this one, I like the crystal case back to be able to see the motor, and I especially like the faded luminous on the dial. It looks to me as if it’s had replacement main hands due to the different fading of the lume compared to the dial. I can’t see a serial number on the movement nor case where I would have expected one. There’s no paperwork nor service history with it, though it’s advertised by a respected dealer, and comes with a years warranty.
I’d appreciate your thoughts, especially about genuiness (is that a word?) and whether there should be serial numbers.
Many thanks
