Thought I'd test out the power reserve on my newly acquired, 10 year old SMP (2226.80.00, 2500c). Manually wound it fully and left in one position ... currently still ticking away after 52 hours (accuracy wise, +1.5 secs gain per 24 hours, on average). I'm impressed :)

Is this quite normal from others' experiences?

Mine is losing a few secs a day but only 3 weeks old so I understand this may change. Haven't checked power reserve as I wear it every day!

For a new and recently regulated watch is that normal behaviour?

Ok. Just being new and regulated, to meet COSC standards, I'd have assumed it would be bang on accurate straight out the box. Is the loss within chronometer tolerance?

Having never owned from new I wasn't aware some movements needed 'breaking/running' in. I'm sure others more knowledgeable will add/confirm etc.

when you work out how many seconds in 24 hours I think it's impressive to be accurate within -3 seconds. I am going to experiment with resting position at night to see what/if any impact this has.

Of course. 3 seconds is within tolerance anyway. I somehow wrongly assumed it was more than that. Enjoy it in good health ☺

Well, it finally stopped ticking after 56 hours and 15 mins. That's pretty amazing in my eyes.
