Was the other person a long term forum member with lots of feedback?

I was comfortable with their feedback, history, and forum input. It was my (lack of sales) history that ultimately nuked the deal. This did not take place here.

In that case, I would say you are correct that they probably got worried about you.

Yeah, I realize. Just sucks being so close and spending the time. I wasn't trying to hide my inexperience. It's okay. I'd probably be as cagey if I were on the other side.

what was the issue if you were willing to ship first?

I don't think we got that far. I asked if they were to ship first and I didn't know how trades normally proceed or the etiquette or procedure was for trading. It was shut down pretty quickly after that. It was in reply that they began to express worry about my lack if feedback. If they had said, because of your lack of sales feedback, you ship first or ship at the same time, I would've proceeded. I could've probably fought harder and maybe it would've worked out but the tone had markedly changed colder. It could have been a misunderstanding. Maybe they thought I was insisting they shipped their watch first.

Yes, I could have committed to it. Maybe I'll get back in touch on Monday. Maybe they'll contact me before then. Maybe I'll change my mind and this will fade into memory.

These kind of trades also highlight how Omega's are highly underpriced and some other watches, example, Seiko's are overpriced - so maybe something like that happened

However I checked the prices on C24 for Sinn 156's and it seems to have a higher value than some Mark II's I've seen, as a total outsider to the Speedy market, my impression is that Mark II's are even more underpriced

For example check the first listings: https://auctionstalker.com/search?q=omega speedmaster mark II&cat=260324

1950 euro one in Germany is possibly up for an even lower offer, there's a $2895 one in US that's also up for an even lower offer

Sinn prices are a tad bit higher

I looked it as being able to get into an early Mark II before a potential price increase. I got lucky getting my 145.022 pre-Moon before they seemed to increase radically. A nice '69 or so 145.014 would be nice. Like I said, I'm going to stew about a bit, decide what to do, if anything.

So, the original trader contacted me again, willing to continue negotiations for the Mark II.

Additionally, I've been contacted by another potential trader to trade for a 2254.50. I think this trade would require some cash on my end. I've wanted an " Electric Blue " Seamaster for a long time: there are a few titanium and stainless models with the Seamaster and Speedmaster bracelets that I would love to get. However, the 2254.50 is a classic.

If we end up shipping, do we cross ship or do I wait for their "payment" to arrive and "clear" before shipping mine?

Usually the one who proposed the exchange sends first.
When the watch arrives safe and sound and all is ok, you go ahead shipping yours.

Well, I've initiated the trade for a 2254.50 by sending my Sinn 156 off this morning. Negotiations were pleasant and I hope the trade concludes likewise. Thanks for the advice and help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Got the watch. We shipped within a few hours of each other and the trades were delivered the next morning. I love it.

Love the matte black dial and the waves make it cooler. Painted logo and indices with tons of lume, sword hands, aluminum bezel insert, and color-matched date wheel with a lume plot remaining at 3 o'clock make it a damned fine watch.
