Potential Dial Mod Research

Hello all, I have a Speedmaster 311.30.42.30.01.005. Whimsically researching dial swap modifications. Will a 3570.50.00 dial fit. What potential dial variations are out there that would fit this watch, if any. I really like the salmon Sedna dial, but that is for the 3861. Not really looking for a reverse panda. Any ideas would be helpful. TIA.

Japanese racing?
Italian albino?
"eyes on the stars"?

Edit- most any 1861/1863 dial you can source should fit afaiaa.

Where are you getting the dial from, the 'special' ones are getting harder and more expensive to procure. I doubt you could source a new Sedna dial, I'm sure those are on an "exchange only" basis.

Not too long ago someone sold a Speedmaster mod with a 3861 dial on a 1861 movement.
The listing made no mention if the dial had been modified to fit, so compatibility may not be your issue with this. Parts availability for sure will be as you won’t be able to find the Sedna dial as a standalone part.

This depends on how much you’re willing to spend. Prices have generally gone up since Omega closed the door, which has made modding more challenging and in some instances make less financial sense. Though, if money is no object and it’s burning a hole in your pocket, I know of a website that will happily charge you an arm and a leg for dials/hands 😉.

My biggest suggestion is to search with patience. Connections on this forum can be your biggest asset as well a quick response time for if a deal pops up in our parts section. In 2021 I picked up this TinTin dial from another member on here. A couple months after buying the dial, I bought a 311.30.42.30.01.005 specifically to put the dial in.

It is and has been my most worn watch

Thanks all for your input. I have a saved eBay search now: "omega+speedmaster+dial+-automatic+-reduced+-28.5mm+-57+-mark+-29.5.
Nothing interesting out there now. Drooling over the @Spacefruit dial, but my budget is only half of what that amazing dial costs. It's the long game for me as you all advised. I waited 6-years for my date-at-6, thanks @X350 XJR, I can do the same on this one.

After looking at the current sold item prices on Speedmasters on the bay, I am thinking a second Speedy may be the smart option.

Patience is definitely a virtue. Earlier this year I picked up a NOS Mark II Racing dial and handset on Yahoo Japan. It will eventually make its way into a Speedmaster service case with a serviced 1861 movement. Not quite the same as a 3570.40, but as close as I’m likely to get in the foreseeable future.

Also, I agree about used Speedy prices. For a dial swap donor, you may be able to get a deal on a 3594.50 with some corrosion on the hands. I’ve seen a few of these go well below $3k, especially when eBay starts throwing around those 10% off coupons.
