Yesterday was the first time I've ever drunk text. That I know of. Apologies. 😝

Today comes the suffering.

I was looking for a Rolex Thunderbird on eBay and i found it, for curiosity i looked at the other watches of the seller. And i found a very interesting piece, a Longines Admiral 5 stars Pulsometer in 14 K solid gold, I couldt resist to bid as i am myself a medical doctor. I finally won the auction of this Longines which is funny because i lose the Thunderbird one.

The watch is on its way and come with its box.

My first Longines that will be a gift from my girlfriend for my thesis.

A pointerdate measuring ca 36mm serial dating it to 1948. Caseback says 23332 but I have only seen ”5412” as references for these…and 23332 sometimes is mentioned for chronos…thoughts welcome?

Yes, or send a email to Longines Heritage. But I`m pretty sure you got a 5412 there

As @Radiumpassion stated, 23'332 is the order number and 5412 should be the reference number. According to my database, I would guess that your example has a serial number within the range of 7'17x'xxx and 7'27x'xxx.

I will check and be back - I know it landed on 1948 but cannot recall the number…seems like a short production run?

The serial number range that I provided is just based on examples of 23'332s that I have seen. The production run of ref. 5412 (there are other pointer-date references too) seems to span around 1 million serial numbers with quite a few different order numbers.

Love these sunken indices and logo, think this is the fourth configuration I have owned.
Have had the jumbo case with both sub and center second and this 35mm case with sub and now this with center second 😀

Congrats, that’s a very rare model and highly sought after. It seems to be in fine condition! Don’t let it go again(unless to me)

Recently got my hands on this Master Collection Chronograph L2.693.4.51.8 - it’s definitely one of my sharpest/dressiest watches. At 44mm I find it a touch larger than I usually wear but the lug to lug is relatively compact and it fits well. The dial has a very subtle barley corn texture which I really like looking at in the sunlight .

Congratulations on your thesis, and a great find!

I have only seen a handful of these, and none in as good condition as yours, besides this one:

Mine’s a 1966 reference 69-384A w/caliber 342 purchased right here on ΩF in 2015 from the beloved ‘Squirrel’!!!

Picked here on OF, Longines Ref 5030 with Suiza sector salmon dial, mid size 35mm stainless steel case and 12.68z movement. Invoiced July, 1947 to the company Danero in Uruguay according to the excerpt from Longines.
