··Color Commentator for the Hyperbole.I view a beater as a watch that is tough, water resistant dependable and utterly disposable. Eg ... Replace without a thought. I have tough watches like my GMT Master II, My Victorinox Divemaster 500 and my Aquascaphe, but I’d be sad if I destroyed or lost them. The Timex, just order another. This is why it’s my biking watch and always in my travel kit.

·My real beater is a G-Shock 5600, if I am going into the wilderness or doing something really rough. But my second tier consists of vintage divers that are already so beat up that a few more scratches and dings won't matter.

·Two beaters. The first is my default watch. I would be sad if it got hurt because I m very fond of it, but it was an inexpensive eBay score and I’d get over it pretty quick. The second could be smashed to bits and I wouldn’t be bothered for a moment. Hopefully #2 doesn’t violate community standards.
