Bought this at auction yesterday, just loved the look ( how could you not ) but I know nothing about them and googling this watch told me close to nothing other than its German made.

Haven't got it in my hands yet and only have the auction photos, to me its gorgeous and will look a lot better after a full service and lens polish or change.

Have someone open it and get back to us with a picture of the mechanism. I have my suspicions, but I’ll reserve judgement until I see the mechanism.

    You are right @Vitezi

Until 1948 they only produced movements under the name PUW - Pforzheimer Uhren-Rohwerke

In 1948 the executive director Mr Wehner founded "Porta Uhrenfabrik" for producing wristwatches.
Those watches were equipped with movements from PUW.

A lot of really useful and memorable information in those links, thanks greatly for that, I am a little more educated.

Mechanism may have some problem, winder stem is loose and balance wheel is only giving a small oscillation, my watch maker will let me know the damage.

In for a penny, in for a pound. Since you now own it and really like it, you are likely looking at a sizeable tab for servicing it. Add the purchase price to the cost of servicing it, and decide what to do. Being a rather obscure movement, parts availability might be a problem.

Yes, the rarity of the movement concerns me, parts, which it looks like it will need might put the Kibosh on it unfortunately.

If it can be brought back to life then it will be a bit of an unusual piece with a highly attractive dial, thinking back to the 70's I do recall seeing some of these about for sale with their very different dial colour schemes. So here's hoping for a good result.

Got this back from service the other day, broken stem winder set lever / spring and a full service. Looks even better than before, well pleased.

Unfortunately the photo doesn't really do it justice, the batons are really very high and stand well clear of the face and look very different with the white bisecting the gold. The lens itself has quite a high profile and makes the batons even more prominent looking, the tall lens and its curvature as it transitions to flat looks amazing.
I have spent a goodly long time looking at it on my wrist at every given opportunity, the last few days I got about 4 different watches (new ones to me) back from service and they are all in their own right quite beautiful however this one keeps finding its way back on to my wrist even though I desperately want to wear the other ones new to my collection, as you do!
