Polishing Indices

Can, or should, metallic indices be polished when the watch is serviced? I've noticed many are tarnished and wondered if polishing is taboo?

After looking at your watch photo and comparing it to this watch, it is an all guard.

Yes, it's an All-Guard. You can see the four "guard" terms clearly.
