I had been eyeing the 16570 polar for a few years now. As you know, prices soared in the past year or so. It didn’t make sense to me to pay almost 9k watch only or 10k for a full set. But this model is still great and affordable compared to the GMT 16710 which asks for 12k-14k! I’ll probably grab a coke if it goes below 10k…

Prices seem to be cooling off now and my birthday is coming up soon. What would be better time to buy a watch! I guess anytime really, to make an excuse for my addiction :D

I am super stoked with this one. It seems to be unpolished and still has its caseback sticker. Also, my polar is a full set! Outer box, inner box, cloth, original paper with serial, green tag with serial and red tag (?).

Had next day shipping to my work. It must’ve been the best Thursday ever! I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a watch… probably honeymoon me talking :whistling:

Nice full set in lovely condition. And a strong contrast on your elegant wrist - although I would be happy to see on on my somewhat hairy wrist too.

Thanks everyone! Yes, this is my first ever neovintage Rolex full set. The green rolex leather is incredible. Lol had a friend say it is better than the fake crumbly red omega leather .
I really like how personal these full sets feel!
It’s summer and I’ve been out a lot. I definitely have tanned! The polar does provide a strong contrast :)

Yeah! My coworker immediately noticed the first day I wore it :D
Thank you! You should definitely grab a polar. I am lucky this was a full set and encourage you to find one as well! And yeah, I’ve got a feeling these polars will hit sub 8k… maybe even 7k. I just couldn’t wait and let someone snag this. I literally sold like 4 of my omega to fund this and move cash around. Said goodbye to a nice diver  but it was worth it because this polar is a dreamer!
I am even thinking wow this could be a ONE WATCH COLLECTION ::screwloose:: it’s no wonder others have said it. I still want more though as do most of us. It can never be just one :D

Lovely watch. Curious about the name Polar...is that just another name for all Explorer II models? And does the second time zone system differ from the way the GMT does it?

Polar is the color yo, and it’s the same movement as the gmt.

nice one!! Don’t you just love how it picks up light so easily. It glows brighter than my newer Rolex explorer 1 lol
The explorer 2 is meant to tell you whether it is day or night. This is because you’re in a cave  My pics are before I learned how to actually use it. Example: You pull it all the way out to set it to 5pm with the regular hands then set the red hand to 17 on the bezel indicating military 5 o’clock at night. If it points to 5 then its 5 in the morning. You can use the quickset to move the Mercedes hour hand too to change time zones while the red is still showing home time. It can be used as a GMT but it’s not for it. The 16710 has a rotating bezel, it’s less complicated. Someone else can elaborate. I’m still a noob. Hope that helped ::confused2:::)

Yes! So why pay 5k more… also the polar is better but I’m biased ::bleh::

Thank you! If you grab one, make sure it’s below 8k watch only. It’s very much possible to do that in the current market. Check Reddit watch exchange .

Unfortunately not on my radar for at least another year probably...and who knows what we'll be looking at $$$ by then.
Like you, I've had my eye on one for the last few years and have (sadly) watched prices go up and up and up.
Ended up with the Tudor GMT instead as it really checked more boxes in terms of exactly what I was looking for in a watch.
And price was definitely a factor lol.
But all of that aside, it is most certainly still on the wish list.
If the modern polar E2 comes back down to earth, I may even get rid of the Tudor in favor of that...who knows.
But there is just something I really like about the 16570...

Congrats on the new addition. My 5 digit EXP2 is one of my favorite watches to wear. Something about it....just feels like the perfect proportions and weight. One of the best parts of the watch is the bracelet....the SEL looks awesome against the case. I actually like how the folded/stamped steel clasp 'flows' with the rest of the bracelet. The newer Rolex clasps that milled are very nice, but IMHO they feel 'chunky'.

    All great points!
The glide lock clasp on the submariner is huge! The ones on the OP need work and feel way too chunky. Quality isn’t that great there but it is an entry level. On the other hand, I think my explorer 1 has the best clasp. Perfect taper and small clasp. It feels very secure.
