PO 39.5 compared to Speedmaster Pro 'optical dimensions'?

I'm casually looking into choosing a watch to celebrate my 50th in a couple of months, and I'm quite temped to get a Planet Ocean.

I generally don't like huge watches, so I'm eyeballing the 39.5 for its compact proportions and manageable thickness.

Would anyone who has both a PO 39.5 and a Speedmaster Pro be so kind to take a picture of them side by side to help me judge its visual presence? The Speedy Pro is currently my biggest watch, but I know it wears smallish for a 42mm.

Thanks!!

So @Trev bought the black dial Planet Ocean 39.5 and ended up returning it, it actually was a really nice watch and size wise wore basically identically to the 1680 Sub if not slightly larger that I was wearing at the time.

It’s a hair smaller than the Moonwatch outer diameter wise but it still has very similar presence on the wrist, so I’d say you’ll notice a minimal difference from the Speedy on the wrist.

Being Cal 8800 powered, it’s the thinnest of the Planet Ocean line and similar to the old 42mm Gen 1 Cal 2500 Planet Ocean in that respect which is pretty good, the larger size versions all get a lot thicker and quite top heavy.

For both men and women the 39.5 is overall the best PO they make, hands down in terms of dimensions so if you’re tossing up between that and the larger size, I’d get the 39.5

Thanks so much for these super helpful insights @dsio !

This is exactly the sort of information I was looking for. Case dimensions can be quite deceiving and a lot of the visual presence depends on the actual shape/outlines/height/lug-shape/etc. of the case.

My Zenith A384 is one of my smallest watches on paper (37mm case size), but it has a ton of presence on the wrist thanks to its shape and polished flanks.
