PO 2500 Bezel

This might be an objective question, but with he older PO with the 2500 movement how easy does the bezel scratch? I would love to get a PO with ceramic bezel, but the newer movement is too thick IMO for the 43mm on my wrist. I also did a search for the PO LE w/ ceramic bezel and can't seem to find one that fits the budget.

This is my first Omega to the collection.

Thanks all

I’ve had mine for 4 years, and it’s my go to everyday watch in the summer and not a scratch!

Wow that’s a beauty. How do you manage to not scratch it at all? I have some on the lugs

I accidentally hit my PO 2500 on a table while eating out this weekend and the bezel got a snail faint scratch. I also have the 8500 version and that definitely doesn’t scratch as easy and the color of the orange is brighter on the 8500

I guess I’m just aware when in situations where I might bang the watch and take measures to avoid damaging it. That being said, I’m also not one to baby it! It’s a tool watch and I use it as such 😉

I had my PO for close to 5 years not a scratch. I did have a small not noticeable scuf on the bezel itself not the insert. Aluminum definitely scratches easier than cermanic, but aluminum is still pretty though and really need to bang it against something. I know I banged mine against doors etc maybe just got lucky.

My trusty orange PO 2500 (which I bought new in 2010) is all faded and kinda scratched up, but I love it that way! It has been banged around a lot and still keeps perfect time. The newer ceramic bezels will not fade as much, if at all.

Daily wore mine for years. No scratches on the bezel. If your worried buy a spare. They are not insanely expensive.

Now is the time to buy 42mm 2500’s.

Hi, I've recently bought the new SMP and scratched the lugs already! How do you all go so long without scratches? Additionally, would an omega service remove the scratches and refinish the lugs? Cheers
You coukd remove or at least improve that yourself if not too deep. On a polished surface like the lug bevels a Cape Cod works wonders, but be sure not to touch the brushed finishes.

Thanks, Its not too deep at all. Don't trust myself with cape cod! I've not had any of my watches serviced yet. Just wondering if a service will remove these scratches.
Yes absolutely but you really can improve it yourself without risk if you are careful with the other finishes. It isn’t very abrasive at all. Maybe tape the brushed sides if you are worried and give it a rub. It won’t touch ceramic or sapphire unless you were to apply it for minutes with a Dremel.

I might give it a go. The scratches are only hairline and are only on that corner. Does cape cod remove metal? or will it leave micro patch of scratches. Thanks again for your advice
Yes it does remove metal but only in microscopic amounts. It mostly works by smoothing the edges of scratches so they become less visible, if applied by hand it doesn't remove a lot at all. I would caution against allowing it to contact the crystal external anti glare (if the watch has it) since it could well damage or remove that if applied for any length of time since that is relatively thin and soft and so perhaps should have recommended taping the crystal too or at least taking care with it and the brushed finishes. That said, on the bright side if your anti glare ever gets scratched, it is easy to remove with CC and a little elbow grease! In my experience, it is perfect for polished lug scratches.
