Hi Guys Please tell me more about this watch. Im a sucker for a pretty dial and you guys have helped me avoid getting scammed by frankenwatches before which I really appreciate. Why are there two notches in the case? Does this movement belong there? Also any other information would be gratefully received. To my untrained eye the dial looks honest. Looking forward to hearing your views.
That its a R17.8SC movement and the dial is from the 1940s. I tried to research the number inside the case back but found nothing online or on the Omega site. Also that this movement is found in military watches though this doesnt look much like a military watch to me.
If I had to make a guess I'd think it's been redialed, but my knowledge is strictly based on looking at other redials that people post here on the forums. The numerals don't look straight to me.
Thats what I wanted some opinions about too. I dont know what the original owner did during WW2 but he certainly wasnt in the trenches!
Wow, i checked with the seller and he did confirm that it has a portugese import stamp! Bonus points to you. Can you tell me more about this kind of watch? He didn’t know anything else.
The number on the case back is a serial number and not a model one, so it is normal you could not find anything with is on google. I think the dial is genuine. But, as said above, nothing in this watch says it is military - thus it is not! And to me the case looks like a regular Swiss one. By the way, I like this caliber. It has a nice shape, is reliable and kind of underestimated today. Also a pleasure to service!

Yes, the stamp on the lug is Portuguese. Note, however, that they were placed more discreetly on gold-cased models.
What would be a reasonable price to offer for this watch? I really like the look of these 1940s Omegas but dont have much knowledge so rely upon google and you guys here to educate and inform me.
