What are the things you are looking for right out of the gates with any vintage Omega? Also, are Omega dials changed heavily in value when the dial has been refinished or are collectors open to highly skilled refinishes?

best,

Thomas

Hi

New here. I bought what I thought was an Omega on Close5. I have emails from the seller stating it was authentic. I brought to a watch store and was told it was a replica. I did buy through Paypal, but does anyone have any advice??? Should I report to the police or will they do nothing?

You might want to start a separate thread, as this one is for reporting fakes/ replicas in order to prevent anyone from accidentally purchasing. Although it would be good if you posted some pics of it here.

You should definitely report it. You do not indicate what country you live in, or how you paid for it. But you should definitely report it to the site where you bought it and see if you can get charges refunded. Did you pay via PayPal? Credit card? Wire transfer? If the site does not help you, then go to PayPal (or your cc company) and open a dispute. If you paid by wire transfer then you may have an uphill battle.

Good luck with the police -- they will not go after someone selling a replica online (although I guess that depends on what country you live in). File a claim with PayPal, get your money back, and move on. Omega likely will not waste any time/ effort on it either -- it is very easy for them to find replica sellers if they decide to put the resources into it, as they list all over eBay, craigslist, etc.

Let's all report that typical fake Seamaster 300 sold on ebay by an arrogant crook called timbrefun from Bend, Oregon:
