My 69 Speedy purchased new by Dad. Not selling, just need honest/unbiased opinions. Service history unknown. Criticism accepted in a manly manner.

It looks perfect 🥰
As far as I see, the dial has turned a bit brown too.
Lovely, really lovely.

Very nice, get it serviced asap.
Then keep it and enjoy the association with your father one day you may hand it down yourself.

From the pics, the hands look like Superluminova to me, have you tried an UV lamp on them? Do they fade the same as the indices after illuminating?

kind regards Max

Looks very nice, dial looks original, hands look newer. Cannot comment on other parts.
Have you still got the paperwork?

Really nice example. The dial is turning brown from what I can see. As wrote before, the hands are replaced with Luminova ones. I have a similar 145.022-69. The tritium is lovely.

I have a 145.012-67/68 also gifted from my dad for my 40th last year, he purchased it 9 Sept 1968

Very nice. As others have said, the hands are superluminova service replacements. If you want to restore the watch to its original condition you could source replacement tritium hands from eBay, but they're not cheap.

Most have been said… Beautiful example, that case looks very sharp !

Just do not send it to Omega for servicing 😀

Criticism accepted in a manly manner.

I’ve been trying to get more in touch with my feminine side, thus I have nothing to offer…

Just watched it 2 nights ago. Almost forgot how damn funny it was. God love Mel Brooks. Most of his movies couldn't be made today.

Oh yeah, that's a beauty of a Speedmaster.

My honest but very biased opinion is that this is a very, very nice Speedy! Having inherited from your dad makes it that much more special and it's good to hear that you are going to hang onto it.

I agree on the no rush to service. If it's keeping time and all the chrono functions work as they should you're probably fine for now, although a visual inspection of the movement and gasket would be a good idea. If you plan on making this a daily wear then I'd accelerate the timeline to service.

@JamesST : The DON should be confirmed with the serial of the 861. Do you have it?

Because of the tropical dial, it should have a DON as the serials associated to these dials are in the DON range.
I wouldn't even bother checking 😀

That watch would make a great avatar photo. Great watch but even better history. The grail, a speedmaster from your dad. Only thing better is a speedmaster from your dad that he got from his dad...
