Please Put My Mind At Rest Or Suggest If I Should Act

Hello all,

If you saw my posts yesterday you will know I was lucky enough to receive the watch below as a birthday present from colleagues.😀

I am not a collector nor purist, but I do like things to be right. I have learned from here that the watch is a redial, and seen from other posts that many people avoid them. Is this from a collectors viewpoint, and as an "ordinary" wearer I should stop worrying, or have my colleagues inadvertenly bought something they would have rather avoided?😕

I know the watch was purchased from a very well established pre owned specialist retailer in London, and probably paid a premium for that peace of mind (which is fine), but if in their understandable ignorance they ended up with a sub standard example they would be upset, and it is playing on my mind. They would have no problem returning to the retailer to "have a potentially changing it.

I like the watch and will wear it with pride but I am sure you can understand my worries.

I'm currently wearing another present, a Busnell GPS golf range finder watch on my way to play golf. The advances in technology are mind blowing.

And yes, I am in London so of course it is raining!

David, I am not 100% convinced its a redial, and there are plenty of genuine examples of Omegas where the dial should have had T markings but didn't, and vice versa.

There are many Constellation experts on this forum, and I expect more will chime in during the day

just been on ebay and found this one, without T markings but has lume

I also think it might be an original dial. Didn't want to comment in that thread, but now that the question has arisen separately it seems the place to add my opinion. You have what we call a transition C-case, made at a time when Omega was switching over from the 56x (561 or 564 date at 3) to the 10x1 calibers. They switched the text around on the dial, and yours is not only the correct fonts but the words are in the correct place.

For the OP, if those who have commented above believe your watch lume to be original then I retract my previous statements and humbly apologise. Their experience far out weighs mine and I'll happily be wrong. Apologies for any undue stress.

Sorry for causing some discomfort, I also have to retract my previous statement and also humbly apologise, as my expertise was based on a similar c-shape Constellation I own and the Omega bible, which has some flaws (see my comment in the other thread "the book has arrived").

I am extremely grateful to all that have posted here, and to Wheels and Gerhard for coming back. I am thoroughly enjoying learning more about the watch and its' history, I didn't think I would be quite so captivated as I am.

I am going to have the back taken off today and will post my findings in a new thread.
