Posting for a friend.
About 40 years ago his dad asked an employee to buy a nice used watch for my friend while on a European trip. The employee came back with a dirty watch with a broken crystal on a dirty stretchy bracelet. None to pleased, the watch went into a drawer to sit for 4 decades.
About 6 months ago I was talking about watches and wearing one of my Omegas. My friend recalled his watch, not even knowing the make. A while later he showed it to me. It was rough but ran reasonably well so I encouraged him to get it serviced with a new crystal and strap.
It came out pretty nice I would say. Another survivor.
I know little about Zeniths, but looks to be a manual wind late 50s or early 60s.
Here. Does anyone know of a 18mm steel bracelet I can fit ?
First thing that springs to my mind would be a Forstner “Komfit” JB mesh that has an 18mm lug width option. Depending on the look your going for there are other bracelet styles in 18mm.
I'm happy to add a Zenith to my collection. I love the integrated bracelet look and this one is no slouch. Yes, it's a bit rough, but I like it as it has lived a life. 70's Surf with the cal. 2572PC. Reference is 02.0690.380.
Decided to go with my Zenith Captain "Turtle" (model no. 4615) today. It has the 2552PC movement and a "D" serial, so I'm fairly certain this dates to either 1969 or 1970 (serial number is "306 D 365", maybe somebody knows more?). I had it serviced this year.
