I have had my Omega Deville for 5 weeks. It was purchased new from AD. It has 2500D movement.

I wound it 30 winds, set the time. For 4 weeks perfect. It hardly lost or gained time. In the fifth week the watch ran slow each day losing 4 seconds a day.

The watch has been worn 7 days a week for about 12 hours a day. However, I have been stuck at a desk for 8 hours in that day. The rest of the time moving around but not that much. Sometimes sitting at home in evening watch tv.

So this Saturday I did not wear the watch at all. Sunday morning 2am the watch stopped.

Does this sound normal? I suppose I am not active enough?

Should I take it to Omega to be looked at?

I suspect that I am not active enough. I only walk for about 20 mins a day consistently. Journey to train stn and back to train.

I know nothing about new watches but if it was a vintage, I’d be taking it back. Good luck

I suspect that you didn’t fully wind it to begin with - 30 winds is not enough - and that your daily movement was not sufficient over time to keep it at this level and increase it.

Before sending it back, try winding it a lot more than 30 times - try at least 60. Then see if this happens again. If it does, then you might have a concern. If it doesn’t, then all is good.

I have read that from time to time it is good to manually wind an automatic watch to give it a boost? Is that necessary?

Do you have a Timegrapher? That would be something I would use to determine if there could be an issue with the movement. Like others have suggested, if you're not very active nor hand-winding to boost the power reserve, then it's very likely it's not ever at full charge.

I always do with my vintage watches. In fact I lost patience with Seiko automatics because you couldn’t wind them.

I will try this shortly

I don't have one. I will give more winds when setting.

Just reset now, movement needed 4 winds just to wake. I kept winding, at wind 69 I heard a faint but firm click at every revolution. This is when I stopped winding, it felt like it was fully wound and the safety slip mechanism kicked it. The first set after purchase I only wound about 25 to 30 winds

There is an issue. I will take to boutique service centre in London as soon as they get back to me.

I wound it from flat 69 turns. In last 10 days keeping great time wearing all day every day. Then I put it on table to test power reserve, it stopped at 22 hours. Oh dear

I may only of got 15% discount at AD but I am glad I got it new and from authorised source.
