Hey My dad gave me his old Omega. He got it about 15 Years ago from a friend. So it should be a model before 2000. Sadly we don`t have any clue how old it is and which model exactly. So perhaps someone could kindly help. Thanks in advance
If you get the back taken off there should be a reference number on the inside of the case. If you type that into google it will hopefully help to identify the model and age of the watch.
This was a very expensive watch in 1977. Its a diamond bezel version of the 398.8950. Nice design IMO, an octagon within a barrel shaped case. The diamond version was a special order and may even have its own case number. Movement should be a cal 1343. These days quartz does not have the cache it did when the watch was produced, there having been a wholesale return to mechanical automatic movements which illustrate Swiss watchmaking at its best, but in '77 this watch was the top of the Constellation line, and a bespoke model such as yours would have been the ultimate jewellery watch. These were worn by the top echelon, at a time before gangsta rappers, meth dealers and people smugglers expropriated the jewellery watch for their own and spoiled it for everyone else. Regards Desmond
