Please help in indentifying this watch!

So I have this watch which had belong to my grandfather. I don't know the specifics as my grandmother does not know what make the watch is and she gave it to me. The watch does not work and it not in best condition based on how it looks. I want to restore it and make it functional, but I want to know if it is worth restoring this watch or its beyond repair.

Thanks in advance!

Obviously, you got this part cover since you posted in the Omega forum. 馃槈

You said it yourself "I have this watch which had belong to my grandfather" how much sentimental value does it have for you? If it was my grandfather's I would do whatever it takes to get it running. However, that is me.

"I don't know the specifics"

More specifics will be in the caseback, if you open it up.

Good luck.

Please take it to a watchmaker to open. Looking at the rust, it might not be easy. Once inside, you will get a good indication if it is worth fixing. "Restoration" will be quite expensive. Access to Omega parts can be difficult and not cheap. You might consider repair to good running condition. Clean, oil, adjust and replace the crystal (along with other items needing attention).

If it has significant sentimental value to you, I think there's a plausible path forward. You will need to find a good, experienced watchmaker who is willing to take on repairs of a movement that may have some corrosion, but with time and some investment, it can probably be done. The case will clean up easily and the crystal can be replaced. The dial was already refinished in the past, so you could also have it refinished again.

I can tell you that the dial has been poorly refinished, plus the SM 600 was only made with center seconds.
