I just bought this watch... http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-SPEEDMASTER-MOON-WATCH-ST-1450-22-78-/121300274872Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network What did I just buy???? Did I make a $1900 mistake?
The watch is real, for $1900 its not a crazy good deal but nor is it a bad deal. I wouldn't panic, just make sure when you get your watch that you have it cleaned and serviced by a watchmaker before wearing it, as that watch doesn't look like its seen a watchmaker in some time.
No you got a great deal. omega box and what looks like a 1171 bracelet. i like 70's speedmasters. Tritium dial. really, it's a nice deal.
Thanks guys for the reply but Spacefruit said its a 1171 bracelet yet in pictures it says 633 ???? I am confused sorry I am very new to Omega
No, send it to a quality independent watchmaker, it'll be far cheaper and they'll be able to retain its originality better. What area are you in?
Nice complete package you have there at good price, too. Don't be discouraged ........... you should be a proud owner. Send to a qualified watchmaker for cleaning and oiling. Do not polish the case or bracelet......it will decrease the value for collector. You would not have problem sell it in here for your purchase price + your service cost........... I bet many members in here birth on 1978 would love to snatch the watch.
145.022-78 the last number show the range period of production around that year. The production year is from 1978 to early 80s. To be precise you should open the case back and see the serial number..... or ask Archive from Omega for a fee (CHF 75 IIRC).
You are welcome. Speedy Pro moonwatch is one of the most iconic watch among Omega brand. Probably also among all watch brands.
No way mate, NASA couldn't kill a Speedmaster, a bit of rough use wont hurt it. After a clean, service and new crystal it'll outlast you.
I couldn't see it from the picture except the chrono second hand and minute & hour subdial totalizer do not reset well. That of course needs attention & service from qualified watchmaker. The case IMO is still in decent condition ( as tool watch of course....). I still can see the edge of the lugs in the case. The script in case back still retain its engraving depth (it's already lightly polished), and the dial is correct Tritium ones in good condition with nice patina. Ditto with hands. Again this condition is expected for 35 years old tool watch. If you see other vintage Speedy Pro in market, your condition is not that bad. Check out in our WRUW or Show your Speedy Pro moonwatch thread.
yeah dsio, I am not sure about all that By the way thank you so much for all the info you've provided to me
I couldn't agree more. This watch if serviced regularly (say every 5 years) it will stand more than 100 year from now.......
