Planet Ocean - Sapphire moves

I was polishing my Seamaster Planet Ocean's sapphire and display back this evening. I held the watch between my forefinger and thumb and used a polishing cloth to clean the front and back of the watch simultaneously. I noticed that the sapphire seems to rock slightly, with a noticeable "click" as I pushed it down towards the edges, close to the bezel. Is this normal? I would have expected the sapphire to be solidly fixed to the case and there to be zero movement at all. Am I mistaken?

Could it be some play in the bezel and not the sapphire?

The Bezel is Loose ! It has nothing to do with the Sapphire Crystal. Inside the bezel on its grooves sits a long folded stainless spring wire concave pattern around the bezel .Now over time dirt gets underneath & accumulates in the groove eroding away at the spring wire. This results in scalloping out of the spring wire giving a convex appearance .Basically the attachment of the sapphire crystal to the bezel edge which was previously secured tightly now becomes loose. The click that you hear is the sapphire crystal pushing on the 'convex' spring wire. I guess you need to 'clean up' the bezel or replace it. Hey...This is just my assessment on the problem.

Sorry but this is not how the watch goes together at all. The sapphire crystal is in now way attached to the rotating bezel, and it does not press on any spring...

I'll second this. The crystal should not move in any way at all. Are you sure it's really the crystal and not a play in the bezel attachment you are feeling when pressing ?

And I'll third it - there should be no play at all. I'd take it in for a service quicksmart, as my guess is it's not waterproof in its current state.

I bought the PO from an Omega Boutique at the end of this past November, a birthday present to myself. Can I take it to any Omega Boutique, and will they ship it to Omega for service under warranty? Would it cost me anything?

I tried to replicate the movement in the sapphire today and could not. Weird.

Upon closer inspection, it *is* the bezel moving, not the sapphire. I've also noticed that the bezel can be moved very slightly in all directions, lateral to the sapphire - IE. I can push it from 6 o'clock towards 12 o'clock, and from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, and it'll move maybe 1-1.5mm. It seems to be within mechanical tolerances.

The boutique should be able to send it in without charging you a shipping fee. Good luck.

I don't think the bezel should have that play. Take it to the boutique and if they have a lab they should be able to reset it while you wait

I am wearing mine right now and there is a very slight play in the bezel - barely noticeable - and I'd suspect that is just the amount of space between one click and the next when turning the bezel. It shouldn't move much and it should take some force on your part to move it - remember, you should be able to set the bezel and rely on it staying in place when you dive so you can monitor how long you have been down and how much time you have left before you need to resurface (i.e., due to your air tank running out) so you wouldn't want it to move on its own. Aside from that, mine doesn't move or make any other sound.
