Hi
Hope someone can help.
I’m considering buying a 2016 Planet Ocean 232.30.42.21.01.002 complete with box and papers.
I would be grateful if you would give me reasons why I should or shouldn’t buy it with particular reference to its reliability and robustness etc.

It's a fine watch. As long as price is right, there's no compelling reason not to get one. I would however inquire about any service it may or may not have received and if it's not been serviced, you may wish to factor that into the purchase price. It's likely due for one.

From a quality standpoint it's an excellent watch. The 8500 has proved itself to be robust, accurate, and reliable.

It's a very thick watch though. That might not bother you or you might even like that attribute. I would not buy this watch without trying it on first.

If you like the design and the fit there's no reason not to get it.

I’ve looked at a 2013 and 2014 watch and there are quite a few aesthetic differences. Does anyone know of a book or articles I can read which explains the nuances between the years please? Did Omega issue catalogues annually?

Let us know if you have specific questions.

The main differences through the years have been the movement, bezel composition, sizes, and bezel insert colors.

The biggest difference has been the movement changes. They've used (in order with each generation) the 2500, 8500, 8900, and 8912.
