Planet Ocean Creamsicle Bezel Color: Coral Red vs Orange

Hello!

I'll start by say hello to Omega forum members! I started my Omega journey with black dial 300m around 2019.. Then traded for Blue dial Planet Ocean 42mm.. and then traded my perfect blue dial PO for a Creamsickle today! 😁

But I have to say, I'm sooo freakin confused 😩. When I took this pic at my AD several years ago, I was under the impression the bezel color was like coral red or maybe blood orange as they say. And in 90% of Omega pics I see, it seems like it's coral red color as well

But what I received today in normal indoor light is pumpkin orange bezel insert color. I guess for me, really for me the only reason I fell in love with this watch is my perceived "coral red" bezel color (besides the highly legible white dial.)

I honestly was so shocked when I opened the box that I thought It was a mistake lol. My GF told me the colors make her want to 🤮 basically (she was veryyy disappointed in me for trading the blue dial PO which she loved). I spent the last 6hrs of today trying to figure out how I made such a big mistake.

I obsess over details typically. I've bought and sold well over 100 divers on ebay for the past 2 decades. And I've never had this big of a watch blunder. I'm floored with trying to understand why Omega uses blood red orange bezel pics (or I like to say coral red lol) when in reality it's pumpkin red?

I guess I'm just here to make sense of it. And yes, I do understand it isss called a Creamsickle for a reason 😄. This was suppose to be an amazing day for me but turned into disappointment. Thankfully, I have a really good TD and will have the option to send it back. I guess my big question is - did the bezel color change ever so slightly with generations or is this the real color?

Thank you, and apologies for this sounding like a rant. For what it's worth I LOVED my other Seamasters and plan to buy a heritage when they finally add a datewheel..! 😆

the first pic I posted was a mistake. This is the pictured I took at my AD when I bought my 300m. I DID NOT BUY THIS ONE THO. And it's quite easy to see how it can be mistaken for having red color bezel insert IMO.

This is one of the pics I drooled over for years basically lol. I totally talked myself into absolutely loving the red bezel insert color with white dial. And this was my Dealer's pic for what it's worth too:

So to sum it all up, as confusing as my thread might read lol...I basically wrongly assumed the Creamsickle had a coral red bezel for years and was in complete disbelief earlier when I learned it was in fact pumpkin color. 😵‍💫

I've only ever seen pumpkin coloured POs, and that was always in daylight.

Orange/red, like many other colours, are hard to display true to life on a screen.
Colour dependes on lighting, camera, exposure etc, so when buying, ask the photographer to provide shots from exacly the same angle in bright daylight, filtered natural light, incandescent, fluoru, LED and the rest.

FWIW, I’ve always noticed that the blues and oranges on Omega watches always look deeper and darker under the AD lighting than they do in real life under sunlight or my home lighting. Take the standard blue Seamasters - they always look a deep navy blue in the store (and in pictures from Omega), but always are brighter and closer to royal blue outside the store.

I think that's why I loved my blue PO. In most lighting scenarios, to me the watch appears black, but when you look closely, it's a deep blue tone.

Photo taken just now. I’ve always thought of mine as Blood Orange. There is definitely red mixed in the orange. Not sure why your watch is so orange.

In the sunlight. The color on that watch does not look right to me, I’d return it and find another one. I love this watch. I have a submariner and a Batman GMT and I choose this one over those all summer long.

Who did you trade with? Did you see photos of the actual watch before trading? Can you unwind the deal?

I did a Google images search and the vast majority of PO's look more orange-red than orange-orange. Omega's own listing for this watch shows it as orange-red.

Is it possible you have a counterfeit watch or an aftermarket bezel?
That date window on OPs watch makes me REAL suspicious, particularly in this photo: https://omegaforums.net/attachments/1781670098572-webp.3384918/ and this one:
The date is pretty well crunched to the left side, which doesn't seem right to me. It could still definitely be perspective/etc, but I'd probably want to see better pictures too. The way the bezel on the pip on the bezel is too leaves me suspicious too.

The longer I stare at the photos the deeper is the feeling that something is off. Is it possible to verify that the watch is original? P.S. The pip on the bezel looks definitely a bit too large and protruding.

I agree. I tried to duplicate the angle with a couple of my Omegas and I could not achieve that degree of number shift to the left.

The watch is legit 100%. I've started multiple forums post about this. This watch was from a well known Dealer in groups and personally checks out with Omega.

The end result is unless you're in a lighting that contains UV, then your bezel color will appear what I call acceptable blood orange. But if no UV is present, then the color of your omega is blood orange. I took about 70 pics and the majority are acceptable.

What i post here is what the watch really looks like - literal Creamsickle childs watch. Unless you guys are privy to spending countless hours in RWI forums and know every possible detail with spoting a fake, then you're simply taking a shot in the dark, no offense. You don't spot a fake by looking at the date wheel - you look at the movement and like 20 other details.

I'm one of those people who obsess over detail. I measured the timeography hertz reading of this watch and extensively authenticated it already...

Again, here is the watch in daylight (UV) lighting and it's acceptable. Members here have already agreed on the bezels true Cremsickle color. This is not really debatable anymore. Ive spent a weeks time diving into why the watch of my dreams was all deception and I sent the watch back and ended up going with gen 1 Planet Ocean

I basically traded my gen 3 blue dial PO bc of the shiny ceramic dial, and the white dial Creamsicle was going to fix that issue for me, but since it didn't work out, I ended up going with the gen 1 PO. At first I got the 45mm, but thought the symmetry looked better in the 42mm, so I traded for the 42mm. And now that I have the 42mm, I'm thinkin the 45mm wasn't so big 😅. But I am certainly happy with the 42mm!

I traded with a legit Dealer out of TN. I'm not going to personally name him bc I'm speaking about the Creamsickle in negative light here and that doesn't have anything to do with his business. He's incredible. He's assisted me in taking the Creamsicle back and sourced a 45mm Planet Ocean in trade, and when I said the 45mm is too big he found a like new 42mm in short time, and now I have it.

In my experience, this customer service is exceptional, especially with as needy of a Buyer such as myself lol.

I created this thread as a rant, more or less. I created a few other threads too outside of Omega. I basically was quickly trying to find out if Omega altered their color or the Creamsicle bezels in any way. I was also trying to figure out if there's a way to buy a red bezel for gen 3, but one simple doesn't exist. To make my dream work I would gladly spend up to 1k on a red bezel, but with all of my research, it's not poss unfortunately

Here are other photos for you to look at that aren't quite so angled. Again I've already explained to you the watch beats to the proper Hz. It's a legit as it gets. And the movement pics clearly checks out.

*Apologies, I misread a reply. Did not mean to sound snappy by saying "again, I've already explained"

I don't believe I've seen ANY of these, this is the only post here I'm aware of from you.

What i post here is what the watch really looks like - literal Creamsickle childs watch. Unless you guys are privy to spending countless hours in RWI forums and know every possible detail with spoting a fake, then you're simply taking a shot in the dark, no offense.

Why do you think the RWI forum is the only place of expertise? I've spent countless hours on THIS forum where we spot fakes, redials, and suspicious things.

You don't spot a fake by looking at the date wheel - you look at the movement and like 20 other details.

This is dead wrong.

First: Fakes come in all types. Some do a pretty darn good job faking the movement (which of course we couldn't see, since you didn't send us pictures of it!). There are fakes you can definitely identify by the dial, bezel, and yes, of course, the date spacing. IN fact, poor date-window spacing is a very obvious tell that the movement/dial weren't made for each-other. There are also watches with 'fake' components, which can have a real movement.

Second: You're having us judge by grainy, off-center photos and then disappeared. If you give us partial information, we can only work on that. I didn't say it WAS fake, I said I was suspicious. Same with the lume pip, in some of the photos it looks odd (based on your last photos, because of the poor photos).

That out of the way: now that you've returned and shown actual clear photos, I agree that seems real, and your bezel thing is just that: the color photographs well, and Omega likely has some variation in the colors.

Every diver I own with a color other than black the colors look different in different lighting and I like that. It’s especially noticeable on my Seaweed SMP300 and Summer Blue PO. Whenever I read about and saw pics of the Creamsickle PO I was never in doubt that the bezel was orange. I assumed it would occasionally look different in different lighting but it would still be essential an orange very similar to the 6/9/12 and script on the dial. Sorry it didn’t meet your needs/expectations but I’m glad you sorted it out to your satisfaction.

No one said they were certain the watch was counterfeit. Multiple members here commented on things that looked off. You didn't post any photos of the movement so no one here was able to comment on that.

I'm glad you were able to return the watch and get one that met your expectations with regard to bezel color. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.
