Hoping Seamonster is spot on, would be nice to think I haven't lost on everything in the collection.

Please do not put too much hope on what I think that attractive SM 165.024 is worth.

When I had the money at one time and depending on the thickness of my wallet, I was a 'kamikaze' buyer. I would brush aside market-value and I would not respect the advice of my mentor. I would pay just anything for a watch that I really wanted, far, far above what the next person was willing to pay - as long as, that is the watch I really wanted to own. However, if I do not want a certain watch, I would not even pay half of its so-called market-value, though I had the money and though I knew I would be able to make some money, if I re-sell it. Strangely, I buy a watch for the love of the watch. Whether, I would make money or lose money, when I had to re-sell it, is never a consideration.

My estimate of what a watch is worth is hopeless. I use my eyes and my heart, and not my eyes and my head, when I put a value to a watch that I love. I look upon a watch as a baby and not a commodity. Love is blind. Indeed.

Surely, there will be many who disagree with me.

    Thank-you.

    These watches have it all.
Sports watch. Dive watch.(Think Submariner) Glowing Bakelite bezel (think GMT 6542)
Huge Tritium hour markers( think JLC Polaris). Wonderful Size 42mm that appeals to
more modern tastes. Dome crystal. Many variations and nuances to intrigue the collector.
Fantastic to die for Patina on the best examples.
    Undervalued IMHO

I would debate that - they're WAY too thick to wear under a cuff and at 42 mm are too bulky to be a daily wearer....... but I'll let you dive watch guys have your say in this thread. ;)

As I've said in the past and earlier in this thread, the earlier straight lug versions are the more collectible ones - much harder to find in original condition (with the thin bezel fully intact).

The Speedy obsessives in here will also disagree with you. 42mm is the best size for a daily wearer! ;)

Can we change our guesstimates now that we know it is a 17 jewel 550 movement ? ;)

Seems you're not a twisted lug guy. For me, much more beautiful.
I'd love to own both. But I'd buy the .024 first. It's got more soul.
