Hi OF I'm looking at this piece and the movement shot has me a bit puzzled. I'm not very familiar with the bumper movements, but it looks to me like this one got a piercing (?) on the bumber/rotor. Does anyone have a good explanation on what has happened here? Any help is much appreciated.
I can't see anything unusual on the rotor (which isn't actually a "rotor"). Can you mark up the pic to show what you mean?
Thanks, Jim. I compared to a couple of other movements, and didn't see this 'ring' in the other ones.
OK, I can see it now. Appears to be a parts of the hammer spring (broken coil) that's become attached to the toungue of the hammer. Very good pickup .
Yes, begs the question: where is the rest of it? the oscillating weight has also so rotor rub wear, so best to get this checked at service too
Does anyone know if these parts are still available from Omega, or if I will have to do some scavenging?
Very few parts are still available from Omega for these. Specifically, the bumper springs and the axle for the rotor are no longer available.
Your bumper spring does not have anything round like that. Maybe from something out side of the watch.
Thanks for all the comments. More of a mystery than a clear conclusion. The watch is not mine but one I was considering buying. Will probably not want to take the risk on this one.
Here is the auction and I especially like the sellers description : https://www.tradera.com/en/item/190118/412709292/omega-seamaster-2627-3-date-at-six-
