This 2852 Piepan Connie is on sale elsewhere. Could I ask some questions of the experts? 1. The dial does have some patina, passes the MOY test - so would I be correct in thinking it's not redialled? 2. Are the hour/minute hand correct? They seem a little lighter than the hour markers and the second hand - were they part of another watch previously? Or is it due to photography angles, or a over-call on my part? 3. The seller says the crowd had some brazing - what does that imply in terms of the function of the crown? (it looks a bit weird and rounded?) Does this mean the crown needs replacement? Thanks everyone!
I think he means the crown shows some "brassing" - in other words, wear of the original plating through to the underlying metal. But at least it is the correct crown which is now hard to source. On my screen the photos are terrible - dark and underexposed. They are not that well focused either. Notice that there is quite a lot of wear to the medallion on the caseback. John
its had a hard life ( medallion almost worn away) and the second hand is a different colour to the hr/min hands. lugs look severely polished to me - like chicken legs! patience, my friend, others will be along soon
Edge on the bezel is almost gone and the lugs are very polished, gold-cap Ref 2852s should look nice and sharp
Crown is original, but the plating has totally worn off the top of it. Dial condition is decent, but the case has been beaten up and an improper restoration was attempted (and failed). If it were $500, it would be a good deal, but at double that price I'd give it a pass. gatorcpa
+1 agree with Gator, it would be a worthwhile purchase at half that price. I couldn't live with that case in such an over-polished state. Especially since I've now seen Steve's. Another one in better condition should come up soon.
