Don’t proceed. That estimate is insanity. Find another watchmaker. Where are you located?

Regardless of who eventually services the watch DO NOT refinish the case or dial.

And yes that estimate is crazy!

Are you planning on keeping it or sell it later?

For those money you can buy two other same watches. I suggest to find a good local watchamker which can do this job. Omega oficial center will also have very high prices..

Woe, that's some horrendously high quote!

I'd be curious as to which company is gouging like that?

They just try it. They will most likely outsource the work to a 3rd party and make USD 1k in the process

Crystal replacement costs $5-10
Crown - $10 on Ebay (watchmaker can find a stem first and advise the correct hole size)
Service from independent watchmaker $200-$300 assuming no parts broken.
Others have advised not to polish the case but it does look very heavily worn/scratched and if it was mine I would give it a sympathetic light polish taking care not to rub away the lug definitions. It's not a valuable watch and you might be happier with it looking a bit shinier.

If you find an independent vintage watchmaker that works on Omega they will likely have the crown, stem and crystal at hand too.

The estimate is outrageous. Don’t take it there. Mall jewelers and official Omega service should also be avoided for a vintage watch. Find an independent watchmaker with an Omega parts account. If you can’t find someone in your area, there are many good independent watchmakers who will accept the watch for inspection via mail and will provide you with an estimate. Search OF for threads with recommendations for watchmakers. You may also get some recommendations on this thread.

would be better if you told me why you need an OEM crystal. Completely unnecessary unless it’s a valuable ref or you have OCD.

Or if you’re concerned about originality, or moisture intrusion and want a precise fit, or you need a special low profile crystal for which there is no generic equivalent or any number of other valid reasons. Cheap isn’t always the best choice.

Unique profile fine. But 95% of the time, like this one, there is a generic that fits fine.

It should look decent when done from what I’m seeing here but yea you just need a good independent with an Omega parts account near NC, I can’t help with that but there has to be someone decent around there.

This

The crystal along with the crown is an integral part of the waterproofing system for a Constellation.

If you choose to risk a generic part (which have been shown not to be exactly the same as the correct replacement crystal ) and pitch cost against correctness then that's fine.
The OP now has the options available to them.
