My number one choice would be the Alaska prototype, for me it falls into the category of; buy it while you have the chance and pay what you need to pay, probably same goes for the 2915. I don t know if the prices are silly or not but I like to think that if I owned them I would still wear them down the pub.
Sorry if this is a silly question but if the Alaska watch was delivered to NASA then how did it come into private ownership?
What a great and informative write up. Especially useful for those of us who cant get to the auction. My pick would be the Alaska prototype. Maybe one day I could get the modern version (if they ever stop going up in price). Thanks @Spacefruit
There is another thread for that started by @ewand, will find the link: https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmasters-at-wok-auction-3rd-november-2018.83488/ I note that Mr Fruit has also covered those on his blog.
In the interest of being gentlemanly and fair, we have two Mr. Fruits in this thread alone: one tends toward the atmospheric, the other more citrus. Which one would you be referring to?
A fair point. I was of course referring to Mr Fruit of the Spaced variety. The reference to his blog would have been a clue to many I would that thought.
I would that thought the tongueiness and cheekiness of my post wooda been apparent. After all, when you go to Mr. Grapefruit's blog, there is only talk of Mineolas, Clementines and Mandarins.
Excellent article, the 2915-1 tropical is a watch out of this world. @nerdbedusa Oh come on man! you can't just say that lot111 has fake bezel without a little explenation! Tell us something
@Spacefruit @Davidt Yes. Of course I will explain why I think so. I had already pointed out the most important parts in my thread everybody here was killing me for. First of all, it's the look of 'TACHYMETRE BASE 1000', being like having been stung with a chisel. Then, there are dots / points that never existed on a first generation bezel. Then, you can see that the area between 300 and 140 has obviously been enlarged on the inside, after being determined the result didn't make sense. But still and just because of this the remaining lettering does not match the bezel examples I showed in my thread, which I believe to be genuine. As stated earlier, it would also be interesting to see the 80. Of course there's a chance this bezel might be the real thing. But then at least three others I've seen during the last 10 years must be wrong.
