The spring bars might be of use after a little rub down with Brasso.

There are some watches which people take a pragmatic approach on. Many of us will never have the funds to own a nice solei dial, and so will accept this one.

Reminds me of this redialed jump hour AP sold at Antiqorum this month, some people just want to own an example of it, and cant afford the best example on the market. https://catalog.antiquorum.swiss/en/lots/audemars-piguet-lot-331-10?page=1

Isn't this that little-known Omega prototype that was strapped to the aft heatshield of a command module? Looks like it survived re-entry pretty well. That's how it got the sunburst dial. 馃槈

C cosma
the red hand was painted.at the centre.

Or the hand you show as a reference was damaged and its paint removed. There鈥檚 often a different perspective to consider 馃榾

Patina.
This is what happens when your watch doesn't say SNORKEL on the dial!
If it's in coffee, is that still day drinking?

How would this watch be handled by Omega if sent back for a service? Would they have the dial to replace it?

Ask @WYO_Watch - they basically sent him an entirely new watch and threw the other watch into a baggie- I think he actually built a second watch from it!

THIS is brilliant! It would be interesting to see what they do with it. If they just clean up the movement and put a new dial, it's like Standy said, rock on.

Oh shit, now I am contemplating bidding. Turn off the phone and computer...

As others have said, I think the bidding interest on this one is due to the soleil dial and not the chrono hand. That said, I don't think even the most skilled dial restoration workshops in the world could turn this into a beautiful soleil again (and even if they did, not sure that it would even be in the same zip code as original dials). At a minimum, the auction will provide some cheap entertainment for us in the peanut gallery.

I would love to see the dial feet on this one...
