Peel or Not to Peel - Green Sticker

Fully understand that this has come up multiple times but I figured I'd share my plans/history.

Around six years ago I saw the price of the GMT's rising so I bought the cheapest one that I could find.
Wore it for a while but I really wanted a modern sub. Traded for a really beat up sub ceramic sub (old model now) on the forum.
The Sub was around $7,500 at the time and I paid a little over 5k for the GMT.
Worked out great for me since I was able to have a sub for a while before I sold it for the next watch.

I'm a filpper and don't hold onto watches very long. Hence why I'm selling a Speedmaster 57 on here that I literally just bought.

Now this GMT Pepsi was purchased at market value and it's not close enough in price to trade for a sub but I think it will be in a year or two, so here comes the question on to remove or not remove the sticker.

Most people on here will say to peel it off, I know I would! That said since I know this will probably go for sale one day, it's probably better to keep the sticker in place?

That old beat up sticker adds no value IMO.

If you want more info about your watch, you should probably be more specific than "GMT Pepsi." We don't know what reference / year you are asking about. I also don't know what is meant by a "fiddly" crown.

Wouldn't you rather see a nice, clean caseback as opposed to a ratty piece of worn out paper sticker?

Rolex collectors are a whole other breed. ::screwloose::
Once it leaves the box, it ceases being new. From there it’s just a matter of how used. Sticker won’t matter in reality to 99% of people interested in eventually buying your watch, and that other 1% will find something else wrong with it that they try to use to knock you down.

Scrape it off best you can with your fingernails and then use Naptha (lighter fluid) to get the sticky residue off.

If that sticker was intact I think there would be more to discuss. As it is, it’s just the remnants of something green with a whole lot of residual DNA. I’m not a prospective buyer or in the cult Rolex world, but I can say that I would not want to wear your left over DNA. Peel that off

Sticker-Be-Gone, never could understand those that would buy a Rolex and keep the sticker on for years. Talk about a human petri dish.

No idea if I right, but been told by sellers it’s proof the watch has not been polished… well at least the the Rolex Service Center who would peel it off otherwise.

So it might make it easier to sell to buyers who prefer unpolished.

what’s to stop me from putting a sticker on a polished watch and scuffing it up so it looks original?

Stickers pulled out since my first rolex. The service stickers also.

If that gmt was nos the sticker could be interesting.

Fifteen years ago, that sticker would have added some value to the watch, because that was how crazy Rolex collectors were — it was “cool” to keep the hologram sticker on. But those days have passed. Take it off!

I was going to say the same thing. I’m both an omega and Rolex enthusiast. I still have the caseback sticker on my 16570 polar. Just keep it on.
I think if you guys bought a ranchero with the original caseback sticker, you’d keep it on.
    Value or not, it’s cool.

I think I have some lint from the Rolex chamois that came with a watch- perhaps I should put that in a baggie for the next owner.
