And to add to my story about selling the FF. I sold because I wanted to buy a NEW car and not have a loan. I had been looking at used, but the ones I looked at all had a faint odor, so I decided to buy the Rav4 new (new car smell) to replace my Cayenne S. So this was a major failure on numerous counts. Fail x3 Sold FF, bought new car (vs used), sold Cayenne S. to buy Toyota. Fail x3

Sold a classic watch for a Toyota?
Sorry Bernard.

And how does the Rav4 smell now?

but not, repeat not, buy a Toyota.

Since when is Toyota bad? I've had mine for 10 years, and that's common for the brand. Not so for modern Chryslers et al.

I missed this very clean and thin cal 370 last year. A lot of things have happened since and this one was with me during a particular period in my life.

Sure. The entire time you wished you had a Honda.

My last 3 vehicles have been Toyota. First 2, I took up to 250K miles and sold them only because, well, because the mileage was getting up there. Original shocks, timing chain, etc. Even the light bulbs last forever. Solid. I'm at 170K miles with the present model.
I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee once. Shocks went out at 50K. transitional at 60K. Spark plugs made it all the way to 100K.

Since when is Toyota bad?.

I've only ever owned one myself and it was certainly very dependable.
Maybe not fondly remembered despite the fact that, thanks to the fold down rear seats, I was able to sleep in the boot (trunk) for a certain period of my life.
That situation was due to circumstances relating to a "past love that you wish you still had". When I'm wearing my rose tinted specs anyway, and not reminded about the Toyota. 😉

Have been driving Toyo's since '84, all ute's (pick up in US) and onto number 6 now, the V8 L'Cruiser. Only replaced tyres and batteries in all of those years.
There is a reason for it to be the biggest brand name in car sales in the world.
Bit of thread drift going on here, sorry about that OP.
I hang on to my watches and the few I did sell there is no regrets.

Recently discovered 8 pages of recalls on Toyota cars. That’s not bad, that’s terrible!

There is always one watch that I think of when these threads come around.
Perhaps not as exceptional, or financially upsetting (though, after 8 odd years, almost all are) as many already posted, but I do regret not giving this one enough of a chance.

And then: First reply, first photo...

Pépère. Est-ce vous?
This is the EXACT watch I was thinking about.
@Ludi in a big way I'm hoping you just borrowed this picture as an example and that I can go on believing that Pépère was more sensible than me and has kept hold of it.

Sold from Australia (WUS ad) to @Foxy100 (and a favourite of his now wife) in England, traded (?) to @flame before being shipped back to Australia (me). I was in the early stages of collecting and sent it back to England to a friend on another forum for a trial after a fair bit of begging. Unfortunately he immediately found it too small, which had been my original assessment too. Sadly "absence didn't make the heart grow fonder". Well not until it was too late. With the assistance of my friend it was sold to a collector in France as, for whatever strange justification I came up with at the time, this was easier than just having it shipped back to me, or even just a few miles down the road to my Sister for safe keeping.

One of @Foxy100 's pics from inside Bond's DB5.

Pepere is my login nickname for TZ-UK forum 🤦

A fellow collector from a french forum convinced me to sold him the Hamilton... which I did at last. He kept it a week, would you believe it ! I immediately offered to buy it back but someone else overbided me ... end of story 🤬

end of story 🤬
All I can do is repeat Syrte's earlier statement; "Ouille!!"
Maybe that Hamilton is cursed?

There are some gorgeous watches in this thread. I can't bring myself to "Like" any of the posts about losing them though.

Worthy cars, yes, but they are still depreciating assets with a maximum life around 15-20 years. If it was a watch the Toyota would be a G Shock. Good utility, yes, but not exactly something most people will fall in love with.

Recent RAV4

I'm pretty sure they moved the spare tire inside the body at least one generation of RAV4 ago...

The wife won't see it. And the ex certainly won't see it. And this was a very long time ago. And I still know I shouldn't, but - f*** it....!
