Ok so it could lose at the very least the diamonds but I still find it interesting that Omega has actually recently produced a palladium watch! I'm not really interested in modern watches but this one caught my eye for the sake of it being palladium (not the diamonds, etc.). The reference is 422.98.41.50.05.001. Does anyone know anything more about this watch?
You have the reference number, so what else is it that you want to know? It uses a Cal. 3313 and has an MOP dial with diamonds. If you need a replacement case they are available, but one will cost you about $95k... They did make one with a black dial and without all the diamonds...reference is 46305331. Cheers, Al
$95k for the case? Wow that is really expensive! I wonder what a watch like this would actually sell for should one ever come up at auction...
Is it just me, or is that one happy watch? It looks like it's smiling with one eyebrow raised. @Thomas P. - do you have a palladium Girard Perregaux Classique 1966 yet?
I do not have that watch though I do admit its nice. In a few years I'm sure I will be able to get one for far less than today.
Well the non-diamond version is only $11k. This kind of premium for precious metals (justifications noted from difficulty in machining, Veblen goods, etc.) are one reason why my collection is in stainless...for me the premium is not justified.
Well to me some premium is ok but $95k is wildly over the top imo. What is the reference number for the non diamond one?
Little known fact: unicorn tears are used to lubricate the movement. Also palladium is the only metal that can be used to fight vampires, zombies AND werewolves.
You can also power a watch with it. This watch has a palladium balance spring: http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html?action=load&lotid=648&auctionid=209
Love the date display that shows more than one date. Because when it's the 5th, I'm always dying of suspense to know what tomorrow will be.
I think they should stick to making catalytic converters for automobiles with it........palladium that is.
Gotta disagree there. I like my watches made out of precious metals for the most part and palladium is a precious metal.
