What a nice piece of work ! Suggestion: if you could slot the sides so the rubber band would sit flush it would look so cool and be even more handy.

I've checked my new wonder tool on all of my watches and listed all of those that are compatible, so here they are.

Fantastic - you've used a lot of your time on this - thank you very much, Jim 馃憤

Yes, thats one way to do it, but there's also other and better ways to add a better grip - problem is, that with my current setup, I use that face to fix the tool in my cnc machine. Beside, adding a better grip would make it more expensive, and it's not exactly cheap as it is, so....

You who has used the tool - is the grip a problem, or....?

Thanks,
Paul

With dozens of these going out into the hands of watch lovers, I can see two possible outcomes for watchmakers:

1. Their business will diminish, as people handle their own minor issues---regulate a watch, tighten a pusher, clean dust off the dial, etc.
2. Their business will increase, as people screw up their watches trying to fix them.

Bets, anyone?

I think business will stay the same, just perhaps with a few less watches coming in with scratched-up casebacks 馃槈

I have not received mine yet, but have discussed the tool with a friend who does micro machining for aerospace and my desire to knurl the sides and/or machine the top to fit my Berg 5700. Once I have it, we'll meet and see what he can do.

Got mine today and it's a gorgeous piece of work. No Speedies to test it on yet but it fit my Megaquartz (196.0038). None of my Constellations were large enough to use it.

I didn't have a problem at all. I just made sure the tool was clean and dry (wiped with alcohol) and my hands had been washed. You could use a rubber glove to give better grip as well.

It was very easy to use and felt a lot more stable than any other tool I've used except for my large (press type) case opener.

I'm going to turn up an aluminium tommy bar for it so that it protrudes from either side about half the diameter of the tool. It should enable enough leverage with a finger and a thumb. That will be all that's required for 99% of casebacks I think.

Well thats all done.

Just enough to give a bit of leverage, now off to do house chores.

I have no idea what I'm doing and I bought one just to mess around so I'm going with scenario #2, for me at least.
