overwind SM300

Good morning,

Can anyone tell me if its possible to overwind SM 300 with a cal 550 movement? the reason for asking when I was winding my SM300 yesterday the crown stopped winding after about 10-15 turns like it was fully wound.

It shouldn't be possible to overwind an automatic watch. I suspect that the reason it stopped is because of a problem with the auto-winding mechanism.

I saw this recently with a colleague's Cal 562, where the reversing wheel had too much play and was trapping one of the other wheels. It also had a broken mainspring which was a first I had seen in one of these.
