A serious competitor...

Can someone explain to me what happened to this? Looks like someone didn't have the right caseback tool so tried to drill / grind their way into it?

So I actually looked up what could cause the body Ph to drop to the levels of causing this kind of acid sweat- watch your diet and alcohol intake. The owner of that watch probably died of some seriously bad lifestyle choices

Looks to me more like a case of dissimilar metal corrosion/galvanic corrosion. The mild solution of perspiration acts as an electrolyte and when you get two unlike metals in that solution corrosion takes place.

So, add a stainless steel bracelet and a brass case with worn plating and a humid sweaty environment, possibly marine, and it doesn't take long.

Mmmmm, shiny.
Over the years, lots of posts on shops that specialize restoring the brushed finish on these. This watch is a crime scene.
