A lot of Speedmaster MKII here, does anybody has a theory why???
I'd say lots of case area surrounding the dial means more exposure to getting scratched.

Here's my attempt at a few theories:

- big angular case, so dings would hit hard and be very noticeable
- any attempt to lightly polish out dings would quickly become a lesson in how to ruin the original lapping finish, leading to more work
- because there's so much case, overpolishing becomes really obvious!

We have a dealer here in Sweden that prices the watches high as f*ck and he's come up with his own rating system regarding cases, dials and so on..

This sold for 3000usd 🤮🤦

What surprises me the most is that people are actually willing to pay those amounts for such poor examples...

Just look at the "vintage guide" from the seller of the watch I presented above.
https://www.marcelswatch.com/en/vintage-guide/

Take this for example.. $9600
https://www.marcelswatch.com/en/product/vintage-omega-constellation-pie-pan-1966-3/

He uses the * ** *** to disavow himself...

And the description of the condition..

Service, hands: Original hands**
Service, case: Cleansed case in original state**
Service dial: Dial in original state**
Service, buckle: Original buckle**
Service, crown: Original crown**
Service, crystal: New original Omega crystal
Service strap/bracelet: Original strap**
Service, movement: Miniservice
Service documents: Yes, in English
Written estimate: Yes, in English
Box: Marcels Black gloss wooden box
Certificate: Certificate from Marcels Watch Group
Color grade dial: Riverside
Damage grade dial: Flawless
Condition case: NP-Surface-P
Overall impression: Grade AAA
Warranty***: 12 months
Remark: Mirror gloss black, minty dial

*Deviation is to be anticipated
**Originalpart mounted on the watch when purchased, no guarantee that it is factory original

Would you recon this to be a serious company? Original parts when they bought it but they do not guarantee that the dial, hands etc. is original... I've had some serious discussions with the owner and it's a slippery guy to say the least..

Hello,

Just letting you know, we, Marcels Watch Group is also a member of Omega Forums. Thank you for a great forum.

If you want to ask any questions about anything feel free. We do not often attend to the DM:s or comments so please bear with us if your are awaiting a replay to a question asked.

Just to clairfy, "factory original" bears the meaning of this very piece was mounted on the watch when sold (this is also explained at the page mr donkii kindly referred to). We cannot guarantee that since most of the times we do not have acess to the service history. It is still an original part but we cannot say, with 100% accuracy, that the part mounted on the watch when leavning the factory is the same as sitting on the watch when we list it.

Just a comment on our "discussion" with mr donkii. Everyone can google and find all there is to be found about us, as a company, as opinions about our prices and about our listing. There will be several different opinions out there, which is as it should be. Donkii however seems to have some personal issues with our owner. Why, we or the owner do not know. We have never, that we know of, had any interactions previous to mr donkii's critisism of us in the Swedish forum klocksnack. We have not intention whatsoever to keep discussing with mr donkii specifically, but we do want to help anyone that has a question about us to get an answer. We do also want to give the full picture about us, and thats why we answer mr donkii's remarks about us here.

We are also a seller at Chrono24, tradera and other places. Any customer who has purchased any of our services or products has the possibility to rate us and our service.

So, to concude, any questions, please reach out to us and feel free to tag us here at OF or any other way.

Best of weekend to ya'll!

You don't see a problem with your ratingsystem when you need half a page to clarify what it means when you write this and that. Refering to klocksnack might be your biggest issue since there's not much positive to read regarding your company. Well, you might have good service but the rating and the misleading presentations makes your company smell funky... Get it?

I'll rest my case...

As said earlier, there will always be different opinions about our company out there. The positive ones can be found where we are listing our watches and I added one where there can be found not as positive ones, is that a problem for you or others or could it actually be a token of transparency? Besides, you yourself did in a previous note refer there so we do not really see the issue unless, as said, there is something personal from your side, making anything we say or do, being perceived in a negative manner by you.

We do also belive it is better to give too much information than too little. If you do not agree there are several ways for you to avoid reading half a page of explaination. However, for those who actually read it, our experience is that it is appreciated. Compared to gradings as "mint", "nos", "perfect", "5/5", "A", etc. without any explaination on how that actually is assessed we would guess it would be less informative about the actual condition than writing jadajadajada. This is due to the lack of an official, world wide, grading system as exisiting for diamonds, art, coins, etc. Using a "new" or different rating system and then actually trying to define what is to be expected from our grades we have recieved mostly positive feedback. Giving too much information about the products has never been a complaint we have recieved. We do belive this is based on that most people that dont wish to read the half of a page before purchasing watches online do their own assessment based on the pictures no matter what we write. And so far, since we started 2008, we havent had any customer receiving a watch from us letting us know that the description did not match the actual watch unless a mistake from our side was made (one incident where one of the watch hands covered a spot on a dial so it seemed much smaller than it was in reality, we happily refunded the customer the full amount since it was an obvious mistake from our side).

We do also rest our case since it now is time for weekend 😁 have a nice one mr donkii and others.

Why don't dealers just stop overpolishing their watches? I bet most of the watches were quite fine before the dealer got their hands on it.
