Oskar Schindler’s Longines Ref 4914

To my not very well trained eye, it’s an old redial? There’s patina, but based on the photo, the “Longines” font looks slightly odd , and the subsecond crosshair looks misaligned to the 6 o clock marker?



What do you guys think?

Who friggin cares if provenance is real? I’d be proud to wear it.

Though I dislike the font of the signature, I think that the dial is original. I have seen a number of others that look similar and the overall wear, nicely executed "Suiza" printing, and copper-toned dial foot all look good. Additionally, the condition of the movement (note the screw heads) suggests that the watch has not been messed with too much.

On another note, not sure what Stephen Pulvirent was trying to say with this sentence: "The watch in question is a basic time-only Longines that looks every bit the part of the 1940s timekeeper." Both style and serial number suggest that the watch is from the mid-late 1950s.

Some of the comments at the end of the particle pointed that out.

It seems plausible that the watch was acquired in Argentina after Schindler moved there in the late 1940's.
