So I have a few different Oris watches. They are great pieces and good values. One in particular, though, has a problem. It is a Big Crown Pro Pilot Date. The problem is that it gains about 20 seconds per day, on the average. Is this within the expected tolerance for an Oris??

It took me about 3 minutes to find this one the Oris web site...under the link for product manuals, then a quick search of the pdf...

"Oris watches are checked and set in the workshop, so daily rate variation is within a tolerance range of – 5 to + 20 seconds per day. Chronometers are set and tested to tighter tolerance ranges than this (see Chapter on ‘Oris Chronometers’)."

So what this means is that they really don;t tweak the timing from the movement supplier much, if any.

But this doesn't mean the watch is okay, because you haven't indicated how new it is, or when it was last serviced, so that also must be taken into account.

    Cheers, Al

Bring it to your watchmaker and ask him if he can tweak it a bit. Some finetuning might make a difference
