@The Father is right. With an approval rating of roughly 40%, Trump has never been more popular than ANY other president at 100 days! Wow! He's boosted the US - and the world's - economic fortunes since he took over. A masterful decision-maker and business mind. Breathtaking acumen.

Yup, Trump's fakkin' hilarious, although I'd argue more clown than comedian, but what do I know. Let's check numbers:

What's not to like?

It's weird, but a way to appease farmers, who have lost a ton of pork business with China.
The Chinese own most of the pork industry in the US. They planned ahead to ensure a steady supply to send back to China. I don't think any of the big producers in Virginia are not owned by them.

Buyer's remorse. And there's plenty of it. it pays to read the ingredients,

Our band was invited to travel to WA to play a couple of shows with good pals in Seattle. I have a Nexus card and live 25 minutes from the border and still there's no way in hell I'm going. We were warned by our US-based friends to swap phones or SIM cards. Is this where we are now? Checking phones for non-aligned (read: non-sycophantic) posts? A friend's mother who is in her 80's was just banned for two years for having non-compliant FB posts on her phone. I was under the impression thought crime only existed in totalitarian regimes.

Funny how liberals are maligned for being bias and quick to censor.

It's fascinating to see a country so poop-scared of Communism acting like a Stalinist regime, complete with a boardroom table surrounded with fawning supplicants. Orwell would pee his pants.

What? Banned from what?

Edit: am I interpreting this correctly to understand that you and the friend's mother who is in her '80s are canadian, and there is a ban to cross the border if Facebook posts look a certain way?

OMG, you gone and done it. The OF gaggle that hates Trump put you on their list.

Don't forget the Americans of Latin and African descent. Young people like Trump because he says what is on his mind and is funny as hell.

Yes, we are Canadian.

Banned from entering the USA. US border agents are checking phones for posts construed as unflattering to the Cheeto King. I am not joking. You can refuse of course; you're then turned around immediately.

I don't know how widespread it is, but people have been detained and then turned back for comments (apparently anti-Trump) found in their phone. This has been happening since the early days in the administration. A European scientist going to a conference was one of the first cases where this was widely reported.

Visitors have virtually no rights, so it may not be unconstitutional. But I'm surprised the MAGA crowd is ok with this type of government over-reach.

Turkey is also a destination to avoid when one has posted about Erdoğan.

It's widespread enough for Canadian and UK citizens being warned.

And what happens when Border Whatever realise that everyone coming in is carrying a burner phone/laptop? Ban everyone who doesn't have a 4 year continuous history of Farcebook/Social-Medium-du-Jour to show? I wonder if a 30+ year history on Usenet will get me into trouble when I can't remember what nym I was using in 1992.

It's policy now. Read the fine deets here: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/cbp-search-authority/border-search-electronic-devices

Border protection, my ass. Neither my wife, myself, my bandmates, nor the 80-year old grannie I referenced earlier pose any terrorist threat to the USA. ('OMG!! He has a loaded phone! Run for your lives!').

I miss NYC. I miss L.A. I miss Palm Springs. Hell, I miss fricken Bellingham and it's only 50 minutes away. I miss all of my family and close friends who live in the US.

See you - hopefully - in 2029. Of course, we are more than happy to have you join us here.

Well, I did receive a weak ass tired meme as a response. I guess that’s better than a cut and paste I see all to frequently here. The funny thing is, I’m anti MSM, yet they assume someone that doesn’t group think like them gets their info from Fox News. I can say with 100% integrity the last time I watched any of that garbage was election night and it was CNN.

Let them keep it up, I love it when doomers stay with the same tired ass narrative that buried them in the first place. It’s a win-win, they are only happy when they are miserable, and the current admin can keep making the rest of us happy.

case law from years ago determined the US Customs has the right to go through electronic devices of furiners.

Especially those pesky Canadians.

Yes, of course. You have fewer rights at the border than just about at any time in your life. Electronic searches are nothing new. Turning people away for thought crimes is...I guess the current administration is afraid of our opinions of them.
