That is reason for hiring people loyal to him.
That works in business. In politics, it breeds totalitarianism when subordinates are more loyal to the dear leader than their country. I'd like to think that the US is still a government of laws and not of a personality, but this premise is being challenged on a daily basis.

BTW, all government employees have to take an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I had to do it when I took a temporary job with the Census in 1980. So when Trump said that he's not sure if the Constitution applies to all people inside the US, he violated this oath and may have committed an impeachable offense.

However, this is done by politicians of both parties every day. A low risk strategy to rile up the base.

Still a convicted Felon. Still an Idiot. That`s why the USA is finished. No more US $ as World reserve Currency . The Bond Market decides your Future ; Brenton Wood gave you a good , cheap run. He will not finished his 4 years in Office ; as long as the Trump Family extorted enough Billions in Bribes . Maybe that was the Plan all along. It will be a lot of fun to watch the Clown and the Circus from afar. Only the best People in his Administration .... Nixon was a President, who became a Felon. Trump is a convicted Felon , who became President again. Which says a lot about your Republicans. Enjoy !
damn your uptight.

United States finished? Free countries of the world would crumble without the United States. Right, the Chinese Dong will be the world reserve $$

He's also a rapist.
Also he's actually simply not that good at business, as has been well documented. The encomiums being written now for Warren Buffet are nothing like what would have been written about the president had he not entered public office. He's not a deal maker, nor a canny business man; he played one on TV, with zero stakes.

  1. Car and steel tariffs slashedpublished at 16:27
    16:27BREAKING

We have some more details of the US-UK deal, via the UK government:
    • US tariffs on UK automotives are immediately "slashed from 27.5%", with steel and aluminium reduced to zero
    • Car export tariffs will reduce from 27.5% to 10% - this will apply to a quota of 100,000 UK cars, almost the total the UK exported last year
    • "In a win for both nations, we have agreed new reciprocal market access on beef - with UK farmers given a tariff free quota for 13,000 metric tonnes"

  2. US says deal is important for American cattle farmerspublished at 16:26
    16:26

Brooke Rollins, the US agriculture secretary, addresses comments from reporters about the UK's decision to take on more American beef.

She says "it can't be understated" how big the deal is for American cattle farmers.

"This is going to exponentially increase our beef exports. And to be very clear, American beef is the safest, the best quality, and the crown jewel of American agriculture for the world," Rollins says.

The UK and EU have, for years, limited American beef imports due to added growth hormones.

Looking ahead, Rollins says "all of the meats, all of the produce" are being considered for agricultural export.

Bigly negotiaion win here from the uber businessman? He cuts tariffs, we agree to let him try and sell some untrusted beef to the home of Aberdeen Angus, thoughts & prayers. 🤣😂

Still, a deal is a deal if you shout it loudly enough! The other 98 will be along soon……

Considering the global output of crude steel in 2023, the UK produced 5.6 million tonnes, 0.3% of the world’s total; China produced 1,019 million tonnes, 54% of global production. The EU produced 126 million tonnes of steel, 7% of the world total. Compared with the EU countries, the UK ranked the eighth largest steel producer, after Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Poland and Belgium.

I reckon we now know a lot more about how Trump defines a win in international trade.

Works something like this:

1. Announce big tariffs coming.
2. Announce big tariffs not coming.
3. Call this a US victory.

More or less back to normal, LOL.

It’s all bullshit, smoke & mirrors so the two of them can score a home political point.

At last we have a BREXIT bonus after 4.5 years, didn’t we do well?

It will be interesting to see whether there is demand in the UK for this exponentially increased amount of US beef.

Not from me! And I loathe chicken. There is much media hype around your chlorine washing of chicken over here. No doubt both will be bought and put into ultra processed ready meals and sold to the unwitting.
(Love that auto correct changed ‘unwitting’ to ‘unwashed’ which is what I would probably have said to friends irl!🤣)

Trumps greatest victory is expanding the GOP, across all demographics, but particularly with the young. Geriatric limousine liberals, who have buried theses people for decades, are the ones who now cry the loudest. Even the younger green haired progressives are seen in much smaller numbers in the rallies around where I live.

The older Dems tend to blame Trump mainly for things they say are going to happen. Self loathing doomers, that sit on their ass and complain mainly about things they think will happen. They love to be victims.

I was actually in Deschutes County a couple of weekends ago! When the tariff situation gets all resolved and we're friends again, you should definitely visit Bend if you've never been there.

These are from a couple years ago at Sparks Lake.

But to answer your question, no I don't think there is a production issue at Deschutes. Pretty sure I saw some on shelves just the other day!
Thanks for the pics, looks like a nice place to visit.

Seems to be a good deal for the US. Nothing earth shattering. And I don't think many cattle operations at all put cows on growth hormones. (WRONG) Having been in the business, none of the operations I've come into contact with have.

Now I'm sure it's out there, but the UK could import 10x of what it needs of hormone free beef. Maybe cubes in the winter, antibiotics if a cow is sick.

Edit: after googling it, it does seem a lot of US beef is on hormones. I'm simply out of touch on the big operations.

The majority of US beef is naturally raised
Huh? I'm no expert, but this guy is:
“In the modern beef industry it is fairly common for cattle to receive three or more implants during their lifetime,” said Paul Beck, professor of animal and food sciences, Oklahoma State University. In the Southern Great Plains region (Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas) a survey of stocker cattle operations indicated 77% of stocker calves are implanted [with steroids]."
