The one indisputable win is the southern border is effectively under operational control now, no more open border border where anyone could walk in. That's a big win, many said it couldn't be done.

Obviously this is not tariff-related, but just to insert some data, it looks like illegal crossings of the southern border is about the same as in the last quarter of 2024. So apparently Trump inherited this particular win. Along with the inherited Israel-Hamas ceasefire win ...

Currently have a FedEx package that has been stuck in customs all last week : /
Ugh. Customs was bad enough before this tariff stuff. Last Fall I had a watch coming back from service in Canada that got stuck in customs. They said a form was missing, which it wasn't. Spent several weeks there, with zero help from Fedex. After repeated phone calls and having to explain anew to each agent that no, the forms have been resent, the watch was finally released. FedEx then charged me $25 bucks for storage, in addition to duty, even though it was only out for service. I can't imagine how messed up it is now.

Oof yeah I've had stuff like that happen in the past, but typically with DHL. FedEx has mostly been smooth for me. I have gotten DHL to partially refund those storage fees when the delays were clearly theirs, for future reference.

Mack Trucks will lay off between 250 and 350 workers at its Lehigh Valley Operations center outside Allentown over the next three months, due to economic uncertainty caused by U.S. tariffs, a company spokesperson said Thursday.

Upstate NY farmer shocked by Trump tariffs, mistakenly thought Canada would pay
https://www.syracuse.com/state/2025...iffs-mistakenly-thought-canada-would-pay.html

"a recent order of livestock feed cost him $2,200 extra due to tariffs. The feed came from Ontario, and he mistakenly believed his supplier at the Canadian mill would cover the difference.
“I’m not even sure it’s legal! We contracted for the price on delivery,” he told the magazine. “If your price of fuel goes up or your truck breaks down, that’s not my problem! That’s what the contract’s for.”
But the tariff was not only legal, it’s his responsibility to pay it. Tariffs are paid by domestic importers, not foreign exporters"

"Adon Farms is doubly stuck with the added cost because the price of the milk Gilbert sells is set by a local co-op and there are no U.S. suppliers nearby. Buying feed somewhere else would be more expensive"

He doesn't seem to realize that it's his own government taxing him - it has nothing to do with the supplier.

There has been so much misinformation about tariffs. Maybe people need to feel the pain personally to understand the impacts.

Yes, learning the hard way. Although, TBH, I’ve been getting the sense recently that even Trump himself did not fully expect the consequences we are seeing, and he usually pivots/caves when things are really unpopular. Or maybe that’s just my wishful thinking.
