    I have been eating up knowledge about the Ploprof 600. It is the most professional of dive watches when you look at the research and manufacturing using exotic materials and tech. It has elements that I wish OMEGA would have incorporated into the current Ploprof's. Does anyone here own one of the original Ploprof's and/or 1000m Ploprof's?

    Yes, many of us do...

    They are super cool watches, and not for the faint of heart!

    I tip my hat to you both! Thanks for posting. Do either of you take the original in the water? If it is serviced and tested there should be no reason it cannot perform like when it was new. Yes?

    Between the two which has an edge over the other? The pressure proofing of the original beats the new release as far as helium is concerned. It was said of the original that it is more watertight than the hatch of a submarine.

    I think of all the watches I own nothing comes close to the feeling of one of these on your wrist. Recently returned from a full service at STS but I'm not sure if their warranty covers it for water tightness. image.jpeg

    Never have. Honestly, I wouldn't wear any of my vintage watches in water it's just not worth the risk.

    See, I have always wondered that when it comes back from OMEGA after a full restoration or service, do they test the watch to its rating?

    @Spy

    Tough to give an edge to one over the other. If I ever sold one, it would be the vintage Ploprof and I would ONLY sell that one if I could buy a 1980s Gold Speedmaster with the Gold bracelet.

    I find myself most often wearing a Speedmaster. But when it comes to Seamasters, my go to watch is the modern Ploprof. It is waterproof (tested and maintained) and I have a black strap, orange strap and the mesh, so I can change up the look on a regular basis. Since we often vacation at the beach, this is the one I take on vacation most often.

    The vintage Ploprof I do not often wear. It is such an awesome watch, but I prefer a Speedmaster. I have the mesh, a blue and orange rubber (non Omega) and a 1171 style bracelet for the vintage Ploprof, so I can change the look up on this one as well. Although I had it serviced by @photo500 and he did an incredible job, and the watch passed pressure testing, I still won't take it in water. I very much love the look of this one, as it does appear to have been used. I bought it from the son of the original owner, the original owner converted it to a left hand wear. I have since converted it back. I also ordered the Extract.

    Thank you for explaining.

    Soon I plan to order an abstract for my 1966 stopwatch. It is nice to know something about these vintage watches history.

    If you happen to come upon, that 1980's gold Speedy, look me up if you do decide to sell the Ploprof. If I do not have one, I might be able to buy yours.

    As found original 1 owner MK1 from Brazil. As you can see, the Brazilian heat has melted everything. Including the rubber seal surrounding the crystal. :p

    Sadly, an implied dibs is not an official point of dibs. I was tragically just informed of this when I attempted to claim dibs upon a piece and was struck down by @Jwit
